Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Boston Red Sox vs Los Angeles Angels
The Los Angeles Angels are set to finish up a 3 game home series against American League foe in the Boston Red Sox. Both teams have gotten off to great starts this season as they both have had big win streaks of their own in their deep divisions.
Boston Red Sox's Latest Performance :
The Boston Red Sox are one of the most complete teams in the MLB as they don’t only produce depth in the starting lineup, but they have a great starting rotation with very reliable relievers. It is very easy to sit here and talk about how good Chris Sale, David Price, and Rick Porcello have been this season, but the 4-5 starters have done a good job as well. Eduardo Rodriguez and Hector Velazquez have been as good as any 4-5 pitcher in baseball as they are combining for 4 starts going 3-0 with a 3.51 ERA. The Red Sox also have another guy who is capable of starting in Brian Johnson who already has 1 start this year, but due to the depth of the rotation has been moved to the bullpen, Johnson has pitched in 10 innings this year and holds an ERA of 2.70. If there has been one downfall to the season it has been the absence of 25-year-old SS Xander Bogaerts who has missed the last few games with an injury. Before his injury, Bogaerts was one of the best hitters on the Red Sox as he was averaging .368 with 2 HRs and 9 RBIs which still sits towards the top of the leaders. The Red Sox have inserted Brock Holt in his place who has been good in the field, but sluggish hitting the ball as he only averages .167.
Los Angeles Angels's Latest Performance :
High Scoring Angels
The Los Angeles Angels are one of the hottest teams in baseball as they have a deep lineup that can really hit the ball. Entering this series the Angels had a 14 run lead on any team in terms of team runs as Los Angeles entered with 103 runs and the Yankees had the 2nd most with 89. This may not come to the surprise of any average baseball fan as we have been waiting for this team to explode for years now, but the addition of Justin Upton, Zack Cozart, and Shohei Ohtani has really put this team over the edge. Justin Upton is enjoying a good year from the plate as he currently sits 2nd on the Angels with HRs and RBIs as he has 4 HRs to go with his 11 RBIs. Zack Cozart comes over from the Cincinnati Reds where he had a career year in 2017 as he hit for 24 HRs and held a batting average of .297, but Cozart is on a mission to be better this year and he has done a pretty good job as he is batting .273 with 2 HRs and 7 RBIs. The Angels have had 9 different starters take the mound in the early portion of the season, but the rookie Shohei Ohtani has been the best one by far. Ohtani has totaled over 13 innings this season in the 2 games he has taken the mound, and not only has he won each game, but he has done it convincingly only giving up 4 hits in those innings.

Against The Spread Selection: Boston Red Sox
My reason for the pick :
As I have stated the difference between the Red Sox and any other team this season has been the depth of their starters as their 4-5 guys have been excellent. Here we have the 4th pitcher in the Red Sox rotation on the mound in Rodriquez and he is coming off a great game. Tropeano was good in his first start, but he did go against the Royals who don’t pose a threat to many teams. The Red Sox are playing some good ball right now and have the slight edge on the mound.
Betting trends for Boston Red Sox:

- The over is 8-4 as the favorite this season.
