Boston Red Sox vs Oakland Athletics

The Oakland Athletics look to continue their homestand as they will host the best team in baseball in American League counterparts, the Boston Red Sox. The A’s have strung a couple of wins together and will come into this game feeling pretty confident.

Boston Red Sox's Latest Performance :

In Mookie We Trust

The Boston Red Sox not only look like the favorite in the American League but as the favorite in the MLB as they have started off 2018 as good as anyone behind strong arms and hot bats. The Boston Red Sox went into a 4/17 matchup with Los Angeles in what was supposed to be one of the best games of 2018 with the Angels pitching their rookie sensation in Shohei Ohtani. Mookie Betts must have been tired of all the talk about Ohtani because he wasted no time going to work against the rookie as he opened the game with a HR. Mookie Betts didn’t only stop after hitting the first one out but proceeded to hit 2 more home runs in the game to give him 3 against the Angels. Betts is already enjoying a career year and has been one of the best guys from the plate to start 2018 as he is posting a stat line of 5 HRs, 13 RBIs and holds the MLB best batting average with a .389. The Boston Red Sox have not only enjoyed hitting from Mookie Betts but have also been satisfied with the production that Hanley Ramirez and J.D. Martinez have given the Sox this year. Ramirez and Martinez are combining for 6 HRs and 28 RBIs as they have been one of the best 3-4 tandems in all of baseball.

Oakland Athletics's Latest Performance :

Hot Hitting A’s

The Oakland A’s have strung together a couple of nice wins this week and find themselves towards the top of runs scored as a team after putting up a ton of runs against the Chicago White Sox. The A’s were able to put up 18 runs in two games and received a total of 21 hits from their lineup which has the A’s playing with confidence. A guy that has been on an absolute tear this season is the 11-year veteran 2B Jed Lowrie who currently is enjoying a career year as he leads the MLB in RBIs and sits in the top 5 in batting average. Entering this series Jed Lowrie currently has a stat line of 5 HRs, 18 RBIs and a batting average of .351 which if he stays on this path will eventually top his career best. Lowrie has never topped 16 HRs or 75 RBIs in his tenure but he has made a statement this year and leads me to believe that he could be a 20+ HR guy with 80+ RBIs. Another guy who has heated up as of recent is the A’s power hitter in Khris Davis as he has 5 HRs and 13 RBIs. Davis has been a 40+ HR guy for the A’s ever since he arrived in the Bay area back in 2016 and the A’s are hoping he continues his hot hitting the rest of the season as he is a correlation in the A’s success. The A’s will have to bring their hot hitting to this series as they will be going against one of the best pitching teams in the Boston Red Sox.

How Boston Red Sox & Oakland Athletics Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Boston is 14-2, 6-1 on the road.

Oakland is 8-10, 5-5 at home.

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

The probable starting pitchers for this matchup is as follows: Drew Pomeranz (0-0, 0.00 ERA) for the Boston Red Sox vs. Kendall Graveman (0-3, 9.87 ERA) for the Oakland Athletics.

Pomeranz is starting his first game of the season after coming off the DL.

Graveman last started on 4/14 against the Mariners where he went 4 innings giving up 5 earned runs on 8 hits in a L.

Boston and Oakland both rank inside the top 3 in runs scored.

Boston is ranked in the top 3 in team ERA while Oakland ranks in the bottom 10.

Against The Spread Selection: Boston Red Sox

My reason for the pick :

Pomeranz is coming off a great year where he went 17-6 with a 3.32 ERA and although the last time he pitched this season was on 3/2 in spring training I have alot more confidence in him than Graveman. Graveman should change his name to Graveyard as he had been absolutely torn apart this season. Boston just shredded a pitcher who was as hot as any pitcher in Ohtani and I don’t doubt similar results here.

Betting trends for Boston Red Sox:
