New York Mets vs Atlanta Braves
On Thursday night, the Atlanta Braves and New York Mets rekindle their rivalry. The rivalry dates back to 1962 when the teams would meet at the Polo Grounds. Prior to the game, the Braves lead the series by a total of 428-360. It is worth noting that these teams had classic battles in the 1990’s and 2000’s when the Braves had players like Chipper Jones, Andrew Jones, and others. Since there has been this push of new guys, it seems that the rivalry has died off.
For the Thursday game, the New York Mets are sending Matt Harvey to the hill. Coming into this game, Matt Harvey has a 0-1 record and a 3.80 ERA. He will be opposed by Anibal Sanchez of the Atlanta Braves. He is coming into this game with a record of 1-0 with 1.20 ERA. Since Harvey has been part of the New York Mets, he has had interesting numbers when facing the Braves.
New York Mets 's Latest Performance :
The Mets are coming into this game as one of the hotter teams in the National League. This team has shown that they will win a game in any way or shape. However, the bullpen seems to be having some minor issues. However, it is still early in the season that there is not major concern. Also, they would like to have guys like Yoenis Cespedes to start hitting with more constantly .
The Mets are sending Matt Harvey to the hill. He is one of the Mets pitchers who has been linked to going into the bullpen. However, it won’t happen because of who his agent happens to be. He just hasn’t found his grove yet. But the Mets have showed that they can win with a pitcher who hasn’t done a lot.
Atlanta Braves 's Latest Performance :
The Braves are coming into this series having played around .500 ball since April 7th. If you exclude the two games that were cancelled due to weather, the Braves have been playing right where most baseball fans expected them to play. One of the stronger components for the Braves in the early days of the season has been pitching. Sean Newcomb and Julio Teheran have each gotten over twenty strikeouts so far. The hitting has also been there as guys like Freddie Freeman and Preston Tucker have contributed with a lot of the offense.
The Braves are sending Anibal Sanchez to the hill. He is making his fourth start of the season. In his three starts, he has one win and two no decisions. However, the two no decisions saw him pitch about 4 innings and get roughed around. In his only win this season against the Cubs, he pitched 6 innings and only gave up three hits.

In-Depth Analysis of each team:
It seems that when the Mets and Braves tangle, they play each other well. Not to mention that Marr Harvey has had problems with Freddie Freeman, Ender Inciarte, and Nick Markakis. When facing Matt Harvey, those three guys have 16 hits , nine runs batted in and have a combined .226 batting average. While they have had there numbers with Harvey, it is also worth noting that Freeman and Markakis have 12 strikeouts. As long as the Mets can minimize the mistakes and play like they did when they went to Washington, then I don’t see why the Mets don’t win this game.
