Boston Red Sox vs Oakland Athletics
The Oakland A’s will host the Boston Red Sox in a matchup that has two of the hottest hitting teams in baseball going head to head. This is game 2 of a 3 game series and after this series these two teams won’t see each other until 5/14 in Boston.
Boston Red Sox's Latest Performance :
Production From The Other Guys
The Boston Red Sox look like a candidate to win 120 games this season as they have the pitching and hitting depth to be true contenders. The Red Sox have not taken the foot off the gas as they have been winning in convincing fashion as they have won big against some of the best teams which include the New York Yankees and now the Los Angeles Angels (2x). The talk through the early portion of the season has been the production from the top of the lineup which includes guys like Mookie Betts, Hanley Ramirez, J.D. Martinez, and Andrew Benintendi which is appropriate as we have seen some amazing games out of all 4 guys. All the talk of these guys may have gotten the middle of the lineup rattled up as on 4/18 they flipped the script and had the big game. The Red Sox beat the Angels 9-0 but that wasn’t before Rafael Devers and Mitch Moreland each had 1 HR and 4 RBIs apiece. It must be satisfying for Devers and Moreland to finally get some attention and although they have both had solid starts to the season they still seem to be skipped over. The Red Sox also received amazing pitching from their surehanded starter in Rick Porcello as he pitched 6 shutout innings to help contribute to his 4-0 season.
Oakland Athletics's Latest Performance :
Runs At Will
The Oakland Athletics doesn’t necessarily come off as a team like the Yankees, Red Sox, or Cubs talent wise but the A’s haven’t let that phase them as they have scored runs at will. The A’s quickly climb up the leaderboard in runs scored as a team after their previous series against the Chicago White Sox as they finished that series with 92 runs on the season. In a 3 game series with the White Sox the A’s exploded for 30 runs and 37 hits which accounts for 32% of the A’s runs and 22% of their hits on the season. The A’s in their most recent game on 4/18 enjoyed production from every single guy in their lineup as 7 of the starters racked up an RBI. The A’s are satisfied with the recent production from the newly acquired OF in Stephen Piscotty who a couple of weeks ago had a batting average of .174. Piscotty has finally found his swing as he now has his batting average .001 under .300 and has contributed 11 RBIs. The ugly part for the A’s has been their pitching as they currently only have 1 starter who has under a 4.00 ERA and that is 3rd-year lefty Sean Manaea who is posting a 1.63 ERA in the 27.2 innings he has appeared in this year.
