Detroit Tigers vs Pittsburgh Pirates
The Pittsburgh Pirates are happy to return back home from across the state after a rough series against the Philadelphia Phillies as they will host an interleague matchup against the Detroit Tigers.
Detroit Tigers's Latest Performance :
Winning Ways In The Motor City
The Detroit Tigers entered their series against the Baltimore Orioles as one of the worst teams in baseball, but the Tigers have strung together a nice win streak to get them around the .500 mark as they have gained confidence in their hitting abilities. The Tigers enjoyed an abundance of runs in their 4/21 matchup against the Royals as they scored 12 runs on 16 hits in a 12-4 win. Half of those runs came off the bat of Tigers that have been around the organization for a while as Miguel Cabrera and Nicholas Castellanos both contributed 3 RBIs apiece. Miguel Cabrera went 2 for 4 from the plate with his 3 RBIs to help contribute to his stat line of 2 HRs and 13 RBIs as well as a team best in batting average with a .299. Nicholas Castellanos enjoyed a productive day from the plate as he went 3 for 5 with 3 RBIs to help contribute to his stat line of 1 HRs and 9 RBIs. Castellanos hopes to return to his power hitting abilities similar to his 2017 season where he hit 26 HRs and 101 RBIs. The Tigers have been enjoying a good year out of some of their younger relievers as Joe Jimenez and Warwick Saupold have both been stellar out of the bullpen as they have combined for 14.1 shutout innings.
Pittsburgh Pirates's Latest Performance :
The Pittsburgh Pirates looked really good through the first few weeks of the season but a recent skid has people wondering if this team is actually legit as the bats that have been so good for this team have disappeared as well as shaky pitching combined for an ugly series against the Phillies. The Pirates went into this matchup with their confidence through the roof after a nice blowout win against the Colorado Rockies, but that confidence quickly evaporated after the 2nd inning. Jameson Taillon has been the best starter for the Pirates this season but in his 4/19 start, Taillon got destroyed as he only lasted 1.2 innings giving up 5 earned runs on 4 hits. Taillon has been solid in his previous 2 seasons and I have no doubt that he will return back to the way he started the seasons as he entered this past series with a .89 ERA. The Pirates will also look to get their best hitter back on track in Corey Dickerson as he struggled in the first 3 games against the Phillies as he went 2 for 11 from the plate and his batting average has taken a hit as he has gone from a .328 to a .290 over the course of 3 games. The best thing for the Pirates to do is return home and get swinging in their home ballpark.

In-Depth Analysis of each team:
The probable starting pitchers for this matchup is as follows: Matthew Boyd (0-1, 1.40 ERA) for the Detroit Tigers vs. Chad Kuhl (2-1, 4.57 ERA) for the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Boyd last started on 4/18 against the Orioles where he went 6.1 innings giving up 1 earned run on 2 hits in a ND.
Kuhl last started on 4/18 against the Rockies where he went 6 innings giving up 1 earned run on 4 hits in a W.

Detroit ranks in the top half in team ERA while Pittsburgh ranks in the bottom half.
Against The Spread Selection: Detroit Tigers
My reason for the pick :
Boyd has been really good for the Tigers this season but the lack of run support has killed him in terms of picking up wins, but as we have seen of recent the Tigers have been scoring runs with ease and that should continue in this matchup. Take Detroit to pick up another solid win on the road.
