Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Washington Nationals vs San Francisco Giants

The Giants will face off against the Nationals in a 3 game series as the Giants are trying to build a momentum after picking up a victory against the Angels. As the Nationals are trying to get their team above the 0.500 mark again.

Washington Nationals's Latest Performance :

The Nationals are struggling to find some offense in the last few games, Michael A. Taylor might be the answer for the Nationals offensive woes after a slow start to the season. Taylor went 3 for 3 with a walk and hit a solo homer plus he stole a couple of bases. This is by far Taylor best performance for the Nationals boosting up his hitting average up to 1.049 OPS as he went for 9 of 26. Taylor is also 8 for 8 on stolen-base attempts this season.

Jeremy Hellickson continues to struggle for the Nationals giving up a double and walk. In 5 1/3 innings giving up 3 runs although he had 5 strikeouts. Players can put up impressive numbers but if their effort ends up in a lost the fancy numbers does not mean anything. Nationals now are currently 2 games below the 0.500 mark. The National are a better road team than they are playing at home so they hope to pick as they get ready to face the Giants.

Bryce Harper will look to have an impact this game as he leads the team in RBIs with 19 and has 8 homers already this season. Bryce Harper went 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBI in the Nationals’ 8-6 comeback victory over the Mets on Monday.

Max Scherzer to take the mound for the Nationals. He is off to another spectacular start in 2018. He finished his last start leading the league in strikeouts with 47 in 33 innings. He has performed well against the Giants in his two most recent starts with 21 strikeouts and just one walk.

San Francisco Giants's Latest Performance :

Coming back home after a road win is always a great feeling to have as the Giants are looking to go back to their winning ways. Everyone is talking about Brandon Belt historic night as he pitched at bat 21 times in the first inning setting a Major league record. The pitch took 13 minutes including 16 foul balls. He topped off is his historic night by hitting a single and a homer. What a night.

Johnny Cueto has been great in his last 4 starts after having a no-hitter into the 6th inning he lowered his ERA to 0.35. Cueto who is just returning to the starting line up because of the ankle sprain he has been playing really well as of late. He did not give up a base hit until losing a single in the 6th inning. Cueto 0.35 ERA is the lowerest for a Giants pitcher after four starts since Ray Sadecki had a 0.25 ERA back in 1968. Cueto has just given up one run over 26 innings so far this season.

The Giants will get Posey back after suffering from back tightness he has 8 RBIs this season along with 2 homers. Andrew McCutchen will look to bounce back after a terrific start to the season, with 11 RBIs this season.

Jeff Samardzija should be the pitcher for the Giants, the right-hander hit as high as 94 mph on the radar gun Friday at Anaheim as he returned from the DL because of a pectoral strain. Even more encouraging was his ability to hold a tough Angels offense to no runs on just two hits over five innings.

Against The Spread Selection: Washington Nationals

My reason for the pick :

The Nationals are a better team on the road at 7-5 as they look to continue this trend against the Giants. With Max Scherzer in charge of the pitching and he always seems to play well against the Giants the Nationals should win this game on the road.
