Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Chicago White Sox vs Kansas City Royals
The Royals will welcome the White Sox to the Kauffman Stadium as two teams will square off against one another both teams have really been struggling to start the season as they hope to pick up some slack because they are equally matched teams.
Chicago White Sox's Latest Performance :
The White Sox coming into this game with a record of 5-16 making them the third worst team in the league 1-8 in their last 9 games. They only have one sweep this season that is against the Royals, all the rest of the series ended up in losses, losing six straight series, the White Sox are off to their worst start since 1950.
Despite the worst start, Yoan Moncada hits his first career leadoff home run giving him 5 homers this season. Daniel Palka also got his first RBI of his career. Jose Abreu should be returning to the team after suffering flu-like symptom he has 6 homers to go along with 12 RBIs.
The White Sox are heading to Kanas City where the White Sox have outscored the Royals 18-10 in their two-game series and hit seven home runs.
Taking the pitching duties for the White Sox will be Reynaldo Lopez. Lopez allowed one run over five innings in a no-decision on Sunday against the Astros. Lopez did walk four, but he scattered just four hits on the afternoon and struck out two. The 24-year-old right-hander now has an ERA of 1.50 over his first four starts of the year and with a team-leading 23 strikeouts but with no wins yet this season.
Kansas City Royals's Latest Performance :
The Royals record coming into this game is 5-17. The Royals offense has been terrible producing only 3.33 runs a game and batting average of 0.197 with runners in scoring position they were 1 for 10 in scoring position that one hit didn’t drive home a run.
The good news for the royals is Salvador Perez who has suffered a knee injury and Alex Gordon a hip injury their two best offensive players returns to the starting line up. They both had an immediate impact on the game with Perez launching a solo homer while Gordon got 2 hits in his return to the team. Expect their offense to pick up with these two back in action and they have a great chance to build their confidence playing against the White Sox at home.
Jason Hammel continues to impress with his 10th start of the season he only gave up four runs over 6 2/3 innings. Moustakas is one pace to set a club record for home runs with 7 homers through 22 games. The record stands at 38.
Taking the mound for the Royals should be Danny Duffy who has an ERA of 5.26 and 25 strikeouts this season. Duffy coughed up six runs in 4 2/3 innings and was charged with a loss to the Tigers on Saturday. He should be replacing Kennedy who has bruised his foot and was not sure that he could start against the White Sox.
How Chicago White Sox & Kansas City Royals Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
Royals are 7-19 in their last 26 overall.
White Sox are 3-8 in their last 11 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of less than .400.
Against The Spread Selection: Chicago White Sox
My reason for the pick :
With Reynaldo Lopez in charge of the pitching for the White Sox, I will have to roll with him in game number 2, even though the Royals get their two best offensive players Perez, Gordon back in the lineup. It will take time for them to generate RBIs since they have to rely on other batters to make plays well.
Pitching will win you games and Lopez should deliver, White Sox to take game 2.
