Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
New York Yankees vs Los Angeles Angels
Game 2 of a 3-game set between the visiting New York Yankees and the Los Angeles Angels will take place at Angel Stadium in Los Angeles, California, at 10:07 pm EST. Currently, the New York Yankees occupy the 3rd slot within the AL East division while the Los Angeles Angels are 2nd place in the AL West division. This will be the first matchup of the year amongst these two teams, however, the Angels are 5-2 in their last 7 meetings with both teams splitting the last 6 games at Angel Stadium.
New York Yankees's Latest Performance :
While not having an outstanding season, the New York Yankees have remained consistent throughout the year. They have only lost two series all year long (Orioles and the Red Sox), both division opponents, thus explaining their current position within the AL East. The Yankees have, however, won 6 of their last 9 games to where the O/U was 6-2-1. As the stat would suggest, the Yankees are indeed an offensive team that can certainly put points on the board which makes them a dangerous team on any given day/night. They look to continue their success against an Angels team that is very familiar with New York in addition to one that has had their fair share of success against in the past.
For the season, the Yankees average 5.65 runs per game (3rd) with a team batting average of .255 (7th), 28 home runs (5th), along with 9 stolen bases (20th). Their pitching staff has an ERA of 4.30 (20th) wit 214 k’s (3rd), along with 8 quality starts on the season (16th).

Masahiro Tanaka (2-2) is also an important piece to the Yankee pitching staff as he has pitched 22.1 innings while allowing 17 runs on 24 hits, 5 homers, 4 walks, and 23 k’s with an ERA of 6.45.
Los Angeles Angels's Latest Performance :
The Angels had been on fire all season long, however, after being swept by the Boston Red Sox in a 3-game set along with losing the following series to the San Francisco Giants, the Angels enter this game losers of 4 of their last 6 games to where they were outscored 39-6. Nevertheless, LA has a great team and eventually came out of their funk with a game 1 2-0 road win over the Astros on Monday night while winning game 2 by a score of 8-7 on Tuesday. Their hope is that the momentum that they are obtaining through this series will carry over into their 3- game set with the Yankees.
For the season, the Angels are averaging 5.14 runs per game (7th) with a team batting average of .261 (4th), 32 homers (1st), along with 10 stolen bases (17th). Their pitching staff has an ERA of 4.16 (18th) with 207 strikeouts (9th) with 5 quality starts on the year (7th).

In-Depth Analysis of each team:
This matchup will be interesting in that the Yankees wish to build off their recent momentum to take out a hot offensive team like the Angels. On the other hand, the Angels look to continue to pick up wins in hopes of staying in the hunt for the overtaking of the AL West division leaders in the Houston Astros. Totals Selection: Over
My reason for the prediction :
Both the Yankees and the Angels continue to put runs on the board. Knowing this, I will continue to play the over in this series. As stated, this series is a classic over matchup when one considers the types of offensive talent on both sides along with the fact that both, for the most part, have very average pitching staffs that, in large part, are solid enough to pick up a win, yet, can be a bit carless and inconsistent, thus prone to give up some runs.
