Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Atlanta Braves vs Philadelphia Phillies

The Phillies will look to continue their homestand as they host the Atlanta Braves. The Phillies are a very strong team when playing at home, they are currently 10-3. The Braves are 6-6 on the road as the two teams are separated only be 1 lost, both teams are equally matched as it should be a good one to keep an eye on.

Atlanta Braves's Latest Performance :

The Braves are coming off of a series tie against the Reds as they continue their road trip to Philadelphia.

Acuna got the first homer of his career in the second inning and then capped a three-hit performance to end the game, look for these trends to continue as he is just starting to pick up his confidence. With his first homer under the belt expect more to come in the future the technique is there he just needs the confidence that he is capable of hitting the ball over the fence every time he batted.

This Braves team is filled with potential with the addition of Acuna it just makes this Brave team better. Swanson and Ozzie Albies have been great for the Braves all season.

Ozzie hit a two-run homer in the fifth inning. He is now tied for the Majors Leauge homers with 8 with an impressive RBI of 19. Acuna who is 20 and Albines 21 both hit a homer, the last time a pair of teammates with the age of 21 and under it was in September 1978. This Brave team has a really good chance to be great if they are able to build this team around these two younger batters.

Taking the pitching duties for the Brave on the road will be Mike Foltynewicz. Mike yielded two earned runs over 4 2/3 innings Monday in a no-decision versus the Reds. Foltynewicz struck out seven but issued four walks, leading to an elevated pitch count. He will carry a cool 2.77 ERA into his next start on the road against the Phillies. He has tallied 33 strikeouts in 26 innings this season.

Philadelphia Phillies's Latest Performance :

The Phillies have started the year off with a 15-9 record and their pitching this season has been great. Lively start represented only the fifth time this season a starter allowed four or more earned runs in a game.

Carlos Santana batting has got significantly better after the poor start to the season. He is now hitting 0.280/ 7 for 25 with three doubles, five walks in his last seven games. The previous series against the D-Back really helped the team see how they compete against the elites team in the Major, picking up a victory against them was a great job for the Phillies. Coming into this series they are 2-4 against the Braves.

Odubel Herrera has safely reached the base 26 times in a row. It is the longest active streak in the majors.

Vince Velasquez who will be in control of the pitching in the second game. He has pitched better than he has the past season and a half. He has struck out 30 and walked seven in 26 innings, an encouraging sign. But he struggled against the bottom half of D-backs’ lineup Tuesday, allowing four runs in 4 2/3 IP.

How Atlanta Braves & Philadelphia Phillies Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Phillies are 4-0 in their last 4 after scoring 2 runs or less in their previous game.

Braves are 5-1 in their last 6 after scoring 5 runs or more in their previous game.

Against The Spread Selection: Philadelphia Phillies

My reason for the pick :

The Phillies will continue to protect their home court as they are 10-3 at home although this win won’t come easy because I guarantee that the young Atlanta Braves will come out all fired up but in the end, the Phillies experience will prevail.

Phillies to win at home in game 2.

Betting trends for Atlanta Braves:

  • Braves are 9-2 in their last 11 vs. a team with a winning record.

Betting trends for Philadelphia Phillies:

  • Phillies are 6-1 in their last 7 when their opponent scores 5 runs or more in their previous game.
