Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Colorado Rockies vs Miami Marlins

The Marlins will hope to build off their two-game wins against the Dodgers as they welcome the Rockies to Marlins Park.

Colorado Rockies's Latest Performance :

The Rockies will look to build off their first series win of the season against the Padres, they will begin their 9 road trip. It will be the longest road trip for the Rockies this season as they are 9-5 when playing on the road this season.

Jon Gray has rediscovered his touch as he struck out 11 while throwing 101 pitches through six innings. Gray has finally bounced by after losing his last three starts he gave up 19 runs, 18 earned runs, and 26 hits in 15 2/3 innings. Gray will hope that he can build on this great outing as the season progresses.

The Rockies are coming off impressive victories including an 8-0 shutout from Kyle Freeland. As they are hoping to do the same when they go to Miami and visit the Marlins.

In the batting department leading the way for the Rockies is Arenado after the early season scruffle he is starting to pick right where he left off with a 0.342 batting average to start the year. Blackmon comes in behind at 0.300 looks out for these two to place their mark on the Marlins series. Blackmon has been playing really well as of late as he leads the team in homers with 8 and is right behind Story in the RBIs with 15, he is showing why he deserved that extension.

Chad Bettis returns to the mound for the Rockies. Bettis was tagged for four runs in the first inning against the Padres on Monday, but he settled in to pitch five innings and didn’t allow another run. His 2.40 ERA leads the Rockies’ rotation.

Miami Marlins's Latest Performance :

Despite being one of the worst team in the league right now, the Marlins surprised everyone by picking up two straight wins against the Dodgers and with Kershaw pitching the ball. They will look to build on the two victories as they will face the Rockies in their next series.

Good news for the Marlins as third baseman Martin Prado and Chen should be returning to the squad. The Marlins have nine players on the DL so having those two back would help the team in a huge way after wrapping up a 3-6 road trip as they wait to host the Rockies at home. Chen in his two rehab starts has a 1.17 ERA with 11 strikeouts and one walk in 7 2/3 innings. He should be returning to the rotation this Saturday.

The current Marlins rotation and the reason why they have been dropping games are that of youth an inexperience as their rotation consists of two rookies Trevor Richard (4.94 ERA) and Dillion Peters (5.84 ERA).

This Marlins team are in full rebuild mode as the batting needs some polishing as well with the rookie center fielder Lewis Brinson batting average stands at 0.146 with 3 homers this season with only 7 RBIs he went for 4 of 21 with 14 strikeouts.

Jarlin Garcia should be starting on Sunday for the Marlins. He has only allowed one run in three starts (17 innings in the rotation). He has 12 strikeouts as a starter and has worked his way around eight walks. Adding in two appearances as a long man, he has a 1.00 ERA In 27 innings.

How Colorado Rockies & Miami Marlins Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Marlins are 8-23 in their last 31 vs. a team with a winning record.

The Rockies are 7-2 in their last 9 after scoring 5 runs or more in their previous game.

Against The Spread Selection: Miami Marlins

My reason for the pick :

The Marlins should pick up a win at home against the Rockies in the second game of this series because of Jarlin Garcia he has only allowed one run in three starts and with all the vets coming back from the disabled list they should be able to pull out a solid performance and win game 2 at home.

Betting trends for Colorado Rockies:

  • The Rockies are 7-2 in their last 9 road games.

Betting trends for Miami Marlins:

  • The Marlins are 1-6 in their last 7 games following a win.
