Texas Rangers vs Cleveland Indians

The Cleveland Indians are set to open their 3rd consecutive home series as they will play host to the Texas Rangers in an American League duel. These two teams met for the opening series where Seattle won the series 2-1. This will be the last regular season series between these two teams.

Texas Rangers's Latest Performance :

Hot Hitting 1st Inning

The Texas Rangers have gone into total tanking mode as the talent they had is all on the DL and the division they are in is too deep to try and compete with their roster, but when the Texas Rangers can receive some production from some of the guys their young guys it’s a satisfying sight. The Texas Rangers were able to use a big 1st inning against the Toronto Blue Jays where they posted 4 runs in route to a 6-4 victory. The young 23-year old OF Nomar Mazara has enjoyed a good season as he has 3 HRs, 12 RBIs, and is batting .302 on the season. Mazara was able to rip a base hit in the top of the 1st inning to drive home Delino DeShields and Shin-Soo Choo. Joey Gallo came up behind Mazara and has done what he has done all season and hit a 2-run HR to put the Rangers up 4-0 before fans were even in their seats. Joey Gallo is another youngster who has enjoyed a good season as the 24-year old is coming off a 41 HR season, and he hasn’t stopped his hot hitting in 2018 as he has 8 HRs. Starter Mike Minor was roughed up as he went 6 innings giving up 4 earned runs on 9 hits, but the combination of Kevin Jepsen, Alex Claudio, Chris Martin, and Keone Kela came in for the remainder of the 3 innings and gave up only 1 hit.

Cleveland Indians's Latest Performance :

Bats Come Alive

The Cleveland Indians have been waiting all season for a good offensive output as they have the bats in the lineup but have underperformed during the early portion of the season. The Indians have continuously received good pitching all season and their first game of the Seattle series showed us exactly that as ace Corey Kluber and closer Cody Allen did exactly what they have done all year, dominate. Corey Kluber gave the Indians 8.2 innings where he struck out 10 guys in the process which gives him the stat line of a 4-1 record, 2.18 ERA, and 47 strikeouts. The Indians offense is essentially what won the game for the Indians as the bunch was able to put up 6 runs on 13 hits. Michael Brantley has been one of the best hitters for the Indians as he leads the team in batting average with a .344 and he continues to add to his nice season as he went perfect from the plate as he went 3 for 3 with 2 RBIs in the 4/27 ballgame against Seattle. Francisco Lindor who is one of the best young SS in the game struggled through the first few weeks, but Lindor enjoyed a nice game where he went 3 for 5 with a solo HR. Francisco Lindor has been on a tear over the last 7 games as he is batting .320 with 2 HRs. If the Indians can continue putting this hot hitting streak together with one of the best pitching staffs in baseball we might see another deep run from the Indians.

Against The Spread Selection: Cleveland Indians

My reason for the pick :

The Cleveland Indians and the Texas Rangers are teams that are trending in two different directions as the Indians are starting to pick up some steam. Hamels looks way out of his prime as he has struggled this season while Bauer has been one of the best pitchers for this Indians team. The Indians have also been really good at home and I think with the way that their bats have been swinging recently they should have no problem beating up on a last place team. Pick Cleveland to win at home
