Tampa Bay Rays's Latest Performance :
Rays On Fire
The Tampa Bay Rays are nowhere near competing this season as they don’t have the best roster and they have a tough division, but the Rays have been able to put together a nice win streak to separate themselves from the last place Baltimore Orioles. The Rays entered a series against the Red Sox on a 6 game win streak as they were able to put nice wins together against the Rangers, Twins, and Orioles, but the Rays were able to extend their win streak to 7 games as they beat the Red Sox behind good pitching. Blake Snell was on the mound for this 4/27 matchup as he went 7.1 innings striking out 9 guys in the process as Snell has been able to put together a nice season. Snell was able to pick up his 4th win of the season which is already 2 wins away from his career best and he has been able to strikeout over 41 people this season while putting together a 2.52 ERA. The runs came from the bats of Wilson Ramos, Daniel Robertson, and Rob Refsynder as they combined for all 4 RBIs. Ramos has enjoyed a good span of games as he was able to hit a HR against the Red Sox which gave him consecutive games with HRs as he now has 3 HRs and 11 RBIs on the season. The Rays may not crack 80 wins this season but their success over the last week has the confidence of this ballclub at an all-time high.
Detroit Tigers's Latest Performance :
Offense Goes Silent
The Detroit Tigers for a stretch of games got consecutive series against the Royals and Orioles which allowed them to compile wins, and if you didn’t look into who they played you might have just seen the Tigers climbing the division on a nice win streak. As we have learned this win streak was not legit as the Tigers are not as good as we thought they might have been. The Tigers offense has gone silent over the last week as the Tigers were shutout in two straight games as they lost 1-0 and 6-0. The Tigers dropped their opening game against the Baltimore Orioles over the weekend only racking up 2 hits as the bats went dead. Jose Iglesias and Nicholas Castellanos were the only two guys to rack up a hit as they went a combined 2 for 7. Although the Tigers have struggled on offense Castellanos has been one of the hottest guys in the MLB as over the last 7 games he has gone 13 for 30 (.433) from the plate with 2 HRs and 10 RBIs. The Tigers have received fairly good pitching from their starters but lack the support from their bats to win quality games. The combination of Francisco Liriano, Mike Fiers, Michael Fulmer, and Matthew Boyd have an ERA of 3.14 but have only been able to go 5-7 as a group. The Tigers need to give their pitchers more production with their bats if they want to get back on track and although they don’t have an overwhelming amount of sluggers they possess quality guys to put enough on the board.

Against The Spread Selection: Tampa Bay Rays
My reason for the pick :
Both teams are similar in terms of team stats and the pitchers have both been awful this year, but the difference for me in this game is the fact that the Tampa Bay Rays have been trending in the right direction. I trust Tampa to put up more runs than Detroit as the Tigers have gone silent as of recent against last-place teams. Tampa Bay has been good in the pitching end of things as recent and I trust their bullpen a little more. Tampa Bay wins on the road.
