Baltimore Orioles's Latest Performance :

Nice Series

The Baltimore Orioles are well on their way to being one of the worst teams in the MLB despite having one of the best players in Manny Machado, but when the Orioles can put together a nice winning weekend it gives Buck Showalter and company something positive to look at moving forward. Perhaps the most satisfying sight for the Baltimore Orioles was a nice start from their 10th-year starter, Chris Tillman. Chris Tillman is coming off the worse season in his career as he went 1-7 with a 7.84 ERA, and Tillman looked nowhere close to improved to start 2018. Tillman started off his 2018 campaign with a 0-4 record with an ERA of 9.87, but after a start against the Tigers on 4/27 Tillman has a new outlook on the 2018 season. Tillman was able to pitch 7 shutout innings giving up only 1 hit in route to his first victory of 2018 which moving forward is a confidence booster for their former all-star. The Orioles have started to see more production out of slugger Pedro Alvarez who is coming off a year in the minor leagues. Alvarez only saw 14 games of action last year in which was his 8th season in the MLB, and Alvarez has ensured that he doesn’t get sent back down as over the last 7 games Alvarez has hit 4 HRs and 6 RBIs.

Los Angeles Angels's Latest Performance :

Trending Downward

The Los Angeles Angels started off 2018 as one of the hottest teams in baseball as they led the deep AL West through the first 2 weeks of the season, but after being swept in 3 games to the New York Yankees, the Angels find themselves in 3rd place in the division. The Angels have been led all season by their MVP Mike Trout as he has 10 HRs and 18 RBIs, but Trout hasn’t been as hot of recent as he is batting .227 over the last 7 games. The Angels success is based on the play of Mike Trout as all though they have a bunch of good MLB players Trout is the leader of this Angels team and when they were at their best this year so was Trout. Another guy that the Angels want to get on the right track is OF Kole Calhoun has been amazing in the field with highlight plays, but has been awful from the plate. Calhoun has never been an offensive juggernaut over his 7 season career, but batting .172 and leading the Angels in strikeouts with over 30 is unacceptable. The Angels slump was summed up in a recent matchup against the Yankees on 4/28 when their best pitcher in Garrett Richards was destroyed. Richards entered this matchup with a 3-0 record with an ERA of 3.46, but after only lasting 1.2 innings where he gave up 5 earned runs Richards now has his first loss as well as an ERA of 4.88.

Bundy last started on 4/26 against the Rays where he went 4.2 innings giving up 7 earned runs on 11 hits in a L.

Los Angeles ranks inside the bottom 15 in team ERA while Baltimore ranks in the bottom 10.

Against The Spread Selection: Los Angeles Angels

My reason for the pick :

To be fair the Angels rank into a really hot Yankees team but this Angels team is good enough to turn themselves around and climb back up the division. The Angels have a great lineup, better than the Rays so if the Rays can rough up Bundy I have no doubt that Mike Trout and company do similar justice. Heaney had a really good outing against the best hitting team in the New York Yankees, and he should be able to do it again against Baltimore. Pick LA to rebound at home.
