Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Los Angeles Dodgers vs San Diego Padres
Both teams will be traveling to Mexico to play at Estadio de Beisbol Monterrey as the Dodgers and the Padres face off in a 3 games series. It is great for the Majors to expand the sport internationally so fans across the country can experience and appreciate the sport atmosphere when seeing them play in person.
Los Angeles Dodgers's Latest Performance :
After Dodgers ended the series streak of the D-Backs at 9, they will look to build on that performance after winning two games against the NL West division leaders. From what we learned from the two victories over the D-Backs is that the Dodgers are able to make themselves calm and compose when the games are tight and are able to close out games when needed. There is still a long way to go as the Dodgers record right now is 14-17 no one expected this from the Dodgers to start the season considering last year they went to the World Series. The talent is there for the Dodgers and they have not yet decided when they are going to turn up the intensity. The Dodgers understand that it is a long season that’s why their early struggles won’t matter much.
The Dodgers come in at #11 when it comes to scoring over the past 31 games, they have scored 143 runs this season. Yasmani Grandal still slashing .301/.400/.527 and he is up to 21 RBI, tied for seventh in the National League in the category. A change of scenery might help play better.
Bellinger has been great for the Dodgers this year with 16 RBIs under his belt. He is 8-for-26 (.308) over the past seven outings with a batting average of 0.288
Pitching for the Dodgers will be Rich Hill. He has allowed 10 earned runs over 15 innings (three starts) this year. In his last start, he allowed seven earned runs in five innings and took a loss against the D-backs. The veteran southpaw holds a disappointing 6.00 ERA, 1.60 WHIP, and 16/7 K/BB ratio through 15 innings this season.
San Diego Padres's Latest Performance :
The Padres are coming off a series loss against the Giants. In their next game, they will be flying to Mexico to play a 3 game series with the Dodgers.
Christain Villanueva will look to put on a show for his home crowd batting at 0.299 and has 9 homers already this season with 20 RBIs. He is just one homer off the major league lead and expects him to hit some homers in Mexico making him the lone leader in home runs.
Eric Hosmer now has 8 RBI on the season, and while that’s a low number, it has much more to do with the fact that the hitters who have batted in front of him have not been the greatest of batters. Hosmer’s .303/.402/.505 line with 11 doubles. He has 3 homers this season.
Pitching for the Padres will be Eric Lauer. He allowed 7 runs in Colorado and 3 in the first inning on Monday in SF. But, he blanked the Giants for four innings after that. Lauer is destined to do great things for this Padres in the future.
How Los Angeles Dodgers & San Diego Padres Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
Padres are 7-19 in their last 26 games vs. a right-handed starter.
Dodgers are 5-1 in their last 6 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of less than .400.
Against The Spread Selection: Los Angeles Dodgers
My reason for the pick :
The Dodgers will use the same tactics that got them the two wins against the NL West leader the D-Backs in Mexico. It will be a warm welcome for native Christain Villanueva and the Padres, however the Dodgers should be picking an easy win over the Padres in Mexico.
