Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Kansas City Royals vs Baltimore Orioles

The Royals will hit the road as they will face off against the Orioles for a 3 games series. The Royals will look to take advantage as they have been playing much better as of late, for the Orioles they are hoping for a better result since they are playing back home.

Kansas City Royals's Latest Performance :

The Royals, winners of their last 3 of 4 games prior to losing to the Tigers, which included a win over the Red Sox on the road. They are starting to show signs of improvements after a terrible start to the season and managed to win 10 games this season. The Royals coming into this series ranked 28th in batting just one ahead of the Oriole, these two teams are having a tough time scoring.

Jorge Soler who had his 10 game hitting streak and 19 game on-base streak snapped after he went 0 for 4. He continues to swing an exceptionally hot bat and is now hitting .297/.415/.505 with four homers and 12 RBI on the season, I expect him to have a bounce-back game against the bad Oriole team, it will be a good game for him to regain his confidence back.

Mike Moustakas the team leader in RBIs this season with 20. He also had a bad game after being shut down by Zimmerman he went 0 for 3. He is stashing at .29/.329/.542. he will have a chance to redeem himself on the road.

Pitching for the Royals will be Danny Duffy. He takes the mound for the opener of a three-game set in Baltimore. Duffy gave up five runs, including four home runs, in his last start on Monday over 6 2/3 innings.

Baltimore Orioles's Latest Performance :

The Oriole is on a 4 game losing streak coming into this series against the Royals. The Oriole is currently sitting in the last place of the AL East division with only 8 wins tying with the Reds for the worst record in the Majors. They are 27th in pitching with an ERA of 5.05 and 29th in batting with only 114 runs scored in 33 games played this season.

Kevin Gausman had a game to remember for the Oriole, he had never thrown nine shutout innings in his career. He allowed just two hits and two walks with six strikeouts but unfortunately, he was rewarded with nothing.  As good as he played it takes a team to win games and the Oriole offense was nowhere to be seen, the batters couldn’t even generate a run that’s how bad the Oriole are this season. The Oriole end up losing in the 12th to a two-run homer. Gausman was impressive, throwing 66 of his 113 pitches for strikes while lowering his ERA from 4.15 to 3.30 with his fourth quality start over his past five appearances. He is the only bright spot on the team. The Oriole have now lost 11 straight in a row. If Gausman can replicate what he did in his last game, he should demand a trade to play elsewhere because right now his talents are just being wasted on a bad team.

My take on this if he is having the game of his life why not let him pitch for the whole game because right now the Oriole has nothing to play for and they are already shifting their mindset into rebuilding mode.

Manny Machado went 1 for 4 as he failed to come up with a winning play despite having 9 homers this season, Gausman would have liked for him to show up in the game of his life but unfortunately, he did not. I expect him to play well at home against the Royals as he tries to aim for a double-digit homer count.

Pitching for the Oriole will be Dylan Bundy. He allowed seven runs five earned and seven hits with a walk and four strikeouts in just 4 1/3 innings. He is 1-4 to start the season with an ERA of 3.76, allowing 3 homers in his previous game is his worst performance to date he will look to bounce back when playing the Royals at home.

How Kansas City Royals & Baltimore Orioles Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Orioles are 15-37 in their last 52 after scoring 2 runs or less in their previous game.

Royals are 5-12 in their last 17 games following a loss.

Against The Spread Selection: Kansas City Royals

My reason for the pick :

The Royals should pick up a convincing win on the road against the Orioles who are really struggling offensively. Orioles batting manager will have to regroup and dig down and see what is causing this scoring drought, after what happened against the A’s something has to change. The Royals will have the opportunity to climb up the AL Central standings as they continue to impress.

Betting trends for Kansas City Royals:

  • Royals are 7-18 in their last 25 overall.

Betting trends for Baltimore Orioles:

  • Orioles are 7-19 in their last 26 when their opponent allows 2 runs or less in their previous game.
