Los Angeles Angels's Latest Performance :
The Los Angeles Angels endured one of the best starts in baseball this season as their new acquisitions gave this team a much-needed boost, but after the Angels got swept at home by the New York Yankees the question started arising if this team was actually as good as we thought they were. The Angels rebounded off their 3 game losing streak with putting a nice 4 game win streak of their own together as they swept the Orioles and beat the Mariners in game 1 of their past series. We were also able to be apart of history as Albert Pujols became the first non-American to hit for 3,000 hits and 600 HRs in his career. Pujols has been one of the best players in the MLB ever since he entered back in 2001 as he has hit 30+ HRs in 14 of his last 17 seasons. Pujols enjoyed a good 3000th hit game as he was also able to 2 RBIs in a 2 for 4 game. Pujols may be 38-years-old but that hasn’t stopped the machine from producing as he has 6 HRs and 19 RBIs which is good for 2nd best on the team behind former MVP Mike Trout. The Angels also received great pitching from their 8th-year starter Garrett Richards who is enjoying one of his best seasons yet. Richards was able to give the Angels 6.2 shutout innings while racking up 8 strikeouts in route to his 4th victory of the early 2018 slate. Richards has been much better than years past as he holds a 4-1 record with a 3.93 ERA which is already more wins than his previous 2 years combined.
Colorado Rockies's Latest Performance :
Bettis Leads The Way
The Colorado Rockies have started to turn the page on their average start to the season as they have been able to put together a nice win streak which puts them in prime position in the early NL Wild Card race. The Rockies showed how good this team really can be by taking the first two games of the series against one of the better teams in the National League, the New York Mets. The Rockies have been led by their 6th-year starter Chad Bettis who has been excellent this season, and he added to his hot start with another great outing. Bettis started on 5/5 against the Mets and was straight dealing as he was able to pitch 7 shutout innings in route to his 4th win of the season. Bettis only went 2-4 with a 5.05 ERA in 2017 but 2018 has been different as he is now 4-1 with a 2.05 ERA which is key for a Rockies rotation who has struggled over the past few seasons. The Rockies were able to bring in two of their best relievers in the 8th and 9th innings as they had Adam Ottavino and Wade Davis shut the door on the Mets with 2 hitless innings. Wade Davis has been great in his first season with the Rockies as the veteran closer leads the MLB in saves with 13 and has another 18 strikeouts. The Rockies lone offense came from no one else but the superstar Nolan Arenado who hit his 8th HR of the year in the top of the 1st inning.

Against The Spread Selection: Colorado Rockies
My reason for the pick :
The Colorado Rockies have started to play up to the expectations of many baseball fans as we thought this team would have started much better after making the postseason in 2017. The Rockies are starting Jon Gray who has turned around his bad start to the season as he started off 2018 with a 1-4 record, but over the last 2 games, Gray went a combined 13 innings where he only gave up 1 earned runs as he earned two consecutive victories. Heaney may have looked good last outing but that was against the Orioles who don’t pose a threat to may pitchers. Heaney was roughed around in his first start and it probably isn’t in the best of his interest to play in Coors Field where runs come at ease. Colorado wins.
