Seattle Mariners vs Toronto Blue Jays
The Mariners will hit the road as they will travel to Toronto to face the Blue Jays in a 3 game series as both teams are equally matched. The Blue Jays currently occupy the 3rd spot in the AL East division while the Mariners are 3rd in the AL West.
Seattle Mariners's Latest Performance :
The Mariners will begin their 7 game road trip as they travel to play the Blue Jays in Toronto. The Mariners are hoping to avoid a series sweep from the Angels. The Mariners will be glad that they are playing on the road again the M’s has a better road record at 11-6 to start the season.
Marco Gonzales hurling six innings and allowing 4 earned run 1 walk and 9 hits while striking out 7. He now drops to 3-3 on the season with a 5.02 ERA. He was pitching much better for the Mariners to start the year he is currently in a slump. As a team, the Mariners are 23rd in pitching one rank above the Blue Jays with the same ERA of 4.65 with fewer games played. These two teams are equally matched.
Robinson Canó is starting to pick things up offensively for the Mariners as he went 1-4 with 2 RBIs in his last game giving him a total of 16 RBIs this season. His stash is .297/0.406/.441. He is finally finding his groove offensively for the Mariners he will be just fine playing on the road, Cano will get his numbers now it is up to the pitchers to do their part.
Mike Zunino went 2 for 4 with a two-run homer giving him his 4th homer this season as he gave the Mariners the lead over the Angels. He has 8 RBIs to start the year.
Dee Gordon will be returning to the squad after sitting out against the Angels as he is the team best batter averaging 0.352 with one homer and 8 RBIs this season.
Taking the mound for the Mariners will be James Paxton. He is coming off the best start of his career, seven scoreless innings with 16 strikeouts the most in the Majors this year against the A’s. The 29-year-old Canadian is 2-1 with a 6.32 ERA in three previous starts in Toronto.
Toronto Blue Jays's Latest Performance :
The Blue Jays will look forward to returning home, they are currently 3-4 after the lost the Rays, the Blue Jays have now lost 4 of their last 5 games after a great start to the season. They will hope to bounce back when they face the Mariners. Coming into this series the Blue Jays are 24th in the league when it comes to pitching with an ERA of 4.65. In baseball, it is always hard to play from behind and after their starting Aaron Sanchez has a terrible start to the game it is challenging to for the batters to overcome his woes.
Aaron Sanchez after his fifth consecutive starts, he really struggled in this one by letting in four runs two earned in 3 2/3 innings of play where he threw 85 pitches. The walks have been a major problem for Aaron all year. He now has 22 walks and 28 strikeouts in 41 1/3 innings. He falls to 2-3 with a 4.14 ERA on the season after seven starts.
Teoscar Herandez is having himself quite a year for the Blue Jays with 5 homers under his belt already this year to go along with 14 RBIs. He is slashing at .270/.327/.573 to start the year. I expect him to play well at home for the Blue Jays.
Lourdes Gurriel went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in his last outing. He has a .222 batting average with two homers and seven RBI in 15 games since being called to the Majors on April 20th and it looks like he has found a home with the Blue Jays.
Pitching for the home team will be Marcus Stroman. He is coming off his best outing, allowing two earned runs in seven innings while walking one and fanning five in a loss. Before that, Stroman’s longest stint was 5 1/3 innings. In two career appearances vs. the Mariners, he’s 1-0 with a 2.08 ERA.

Against The Spread Selection: Seattle Mariners
My reason for the pick :
For this game I am rolling with the Mariners, they are a much team on the road and that will not change when they play the Blue Jays, with a road record of 11-6 it is hard not to bet against them. The Mariners can generate plays in the later innings so look for that to happen in the matchup against the Blue Jays.
Mariners to win on the road.
