Minnesota Twins's Latest Performance :
Much Needed Series
The Minnesota Twins endured a rough 2-week stretch as they were dropping games left and right, but to the advantage of the Twins they play in one of the easiest divisions in baseball and it was kind to them this past weekend as they got to beat up on the last-place Chicago White Sox. The Twins were able to close out their series against the White Sox with a 5-3 win which extended their win streak to 3 games and put them back in 2nd place of the AL Central. The Twins were able to pull away late as they used 3 runs in the top of the 7th inning to propel them to a win as the bats came alive. Kyle Gibson was given the start on 5/6 and he did just what he has done all season to secure a win for the Twins as he struck out 8 guys in 6.2 innings of work. Although Gibson gave up 3 earned runs on 4 hits he was backed up by solid bullpen play as the combination of Zach Duke, Addison Reed, and Fernando Rodney gave the team 2.1 innings of work only giving up 1 hit. The offense could be accredited to the bat of 4th year OF Eddie Rosario who has been on a tear as of recent, and he continued his solid season as he had 1 HR with 2 RBIs which gives him a team-high in RBIs with 24. Rosario has been one of the best hitters in all of baseball over the last week as in his last 30 plate appearances he is batting .433 with 4 HRs and 12 RBIs.
Los Angeles Angels's Latest Performance :
Back On Top
The Los Angeles Angels looked borderline lost when they got swept at home against the New York Yankees, but to the Angels credit, they have been able to survive their struggle and get on top of the AL West which is a division that host the defending World Series champions and a solid Seattle Mariners team. The Angels were able to finish off their series against the Seattle Mariners on a positive note as they received a good game from both their pitching staff and their MVP Mike Trout. The Angels elected to start rookie sensation Shohei Ohtani who has been good through his first 5 starts this season, and he was able to add another solid start to his resume as he went 6 innings giving up 2 earned runs on 6 hits in a winning effort. Ohtani is famously known for his two-way ability as he has a .339 batting average from the plate as well as a 4-1 record as a starting pitcher. The Angels were able to receive another great game from their MVP Mike Trout who was able to go 3 for 4 from the plate with 1 HR and 3 RBIs. Trout is having a great season as he leads the team in both HRs and RBIs as he has 12 and 24, but Trout has also been a really efficient hitter as well as he is batting .336. In Mike Trout’s recent MVP season he batted .315 and had 29 HRs, and if Trout keeps his current pace he looks like he could claim another MVP as he should exceed those numbers.

Against The Spread Selection: Los Angeles Angels
My reason for the pick :
The Angels are rolling right now as they have picked up their play since being embarrassed at home against the Yankees, and they are looking to continue their hot streak as they can finally smell another playoff appearance. Not only do the Angels have the better team as well as the hotter streak, but they get to pitch one of their best arms in Garrett Richards who has been sensational for the Angels this season. Berrios started off the year well but as we have seen over his last few starts he has failed to receive support from his offense. Richards continues to warm up his hot arm and secures another win for the Angels.
