Oakland Athletics vs New York Yankees
The Yankees will close up their 9 game homestand as they welcome the A’s to Yankees Stadium. The Yankees are now the hottest team in the major as for the A’s they will have to prepare themselves for a tough series that of them.
Oakland Athletics's Latest Performance :
The Oakland Athletics are facing a tough road schedule ahead where they are 7-10 on the road this season, they will play the Yankees, the Red Sox, and the Blue Jays. The A’s lost in a series sweep against the Astros they are hoping to bounce back against the red-hot Yankees. The A’s dropped to 4th in the AL West after losing out to the Astros. They are 11th in batting with 161 runs scored this season.
Jed Lowrie will hope to pick things up when he plays the Yankees after he went 1 for 4 with an RBI in his last game, Lowrie is the teams best batter. The talent pool when he faces the Yankees will be something that he will be looking forward to facing. He is slashing .338/.400/.579 on the season with 32 RBIs.
Dustin Fowler is expected to start against the Yankees, he was batting .300 with 3 homers and 8 stolen bases at Triple-A, he will look to make the most out of this opportunity as he will get to face his own team.
Pitching for the A’s will be Andrew Triggs. He enjoyed his best outing of the season Sunday, limiting Baltimore to one run on two hits. He fanned nine over seven innings. Triggs has allowed two or fewer runs in five of his seven starts. Triggs has been very good this year, and even with the bad starts mixed in he’s got a 4.41 ERA and 1.21 WHIP in seven appearances.
New York Yankees's Latest Performance :
The Yankees have now won 8 straight games, 17th out of 18 games, and have reclaimed the top spot in the AL East division after impressive wins against the Red Sox at home. They have an impressive home record of 16-5. The Yankees are still the best batting team in the Major, they are the first team this season to score 200 runs. The Yankees are a confident team with a lot of talent and they are not going to drop a game anytime soon.
Aaron Judge is batting on another level this season for the Yankees as he went 3-for-4 with a home run, three RBI and three runs scored when he has a great performance the Yankees always come up on top no matter what he has been great during this homestand scoring a total of 8 RBIs he should remain hot as the A’s come to visit. He is slashing .308/.429/.579 with 9 homers and 27 RBIs.
Giancarlo Stanton started things off in the first game he is not far behind Judge in the batting department, after his 2 solo homers making it his 9th of the year tied with Judge. He is now batting an impressive 10 for 19 in the last five games. He also has 23 RBIs this season. Any team that is going against these two batters will have a hard time containing them because they are on a roll right now. Stanton is slashing .237/.327.504.
Pitching for Yankees will be Domingo German. He will make his 2nd Major League start, coming off six hitless innings and a no-decision in the Yankees’ 7-4 win over the Indians on Sunday. German walked two and struck out nine in the 84-pitch effort.
