Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Atlanta Braves vs Chicago Cubs
The Cubs will welcome the Braves to Wrigley Field as both teams will face off in a 3 games series. The Braves have started this season out on fire leading the NL East while the Cubs are within striking distance of the first place cards in the NL Central division.
Atlanta Braves's Latest Performance :
The Braves has shown signs of inconsistency in these last few games. After getting swept by the Giants they responded by sweeping the Rays. The pitchers of the Braves are having a hard time competing with the Marlins as they gave up 6 runs in the second game of the series. Although the Braves should be able to handle Marlins as they hit the road to visit the Cubs. The Braves can’t afford to drop another game if they want to remain on top of the of the NL East the Phillies are looking for a great opportunity to take over. Playing on the road will benefit them as they are 14-8 on the road this season. The Braves are a really great batting team they are 3rd best just behind Boston and New York. The Braves must have consistency in their pitching as the season progresses, that how most close games are won through quality pitching.
Ozzie Albies continues to be on fire as he moved into a tie on top of the NL leaderboard with homer number 12. This gives him 18 for his career in just 94 games that are really impressive numbers for a 21-year old that has only been in the league for two years, he makes the pros look so easy, he will be going up against Contreras who is also been on fire lately, this should be a fun matchup to look out for. Albies line this season .284/.322/.599 with an impressive 30 RBIs. He is also on an 8 game hitting streak.
Pitching for the Braves will be Julio Teheran. He completed six innings of scoreless ball in three of his past four starts. He is one of the major reasons why the Braves have been surprisingly good this year. He improves to 3-1 with a 3.14 ERA and 1.16 WHIP after eight starts. He has 42 strikeouts and 18 walks in 43 innings pitched this season.
Chicago Cubs's Latest Performance :
The Cubs are having a very solid season thus far but unfortunately, they are playing in a very tough division where the first place Cards are only 2 games head for the Cubs who are sitting in 4th place. This means if either team goes on a winning streak they can become the new division leader it is really that close. Coming into this series the Cubs are 9th in scoring with 178 runs scored this season. The Cubs has been great at home this season, they have a home record of 12-6. The Cubs are coming off a series sweep against the Marlins and are on a 4 game winning streak.
Willson Contreras is coming off his career night (he went 4 for 5) where he struck pair of homers and picked up 7 RBIs. It was Contreras second career grand slam that came in the first inning that gave the Cubs an early 5-0 lead. He was doing it all for the Cubs and hoping to duplicate this type of performance when the young Braves come to town, the Braves themselves can surely put points on the board as well. He’s now slashing .268/.343/.488 with three homers and 16 RBI on the year.
Kris Bryant also contributed with a solo homer it is his 7th homer of the year. He finished the day 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI and three runs scored. He’s now hitting .303/.434/.612 with 19 RBI on the season. Bryant has just batted his 100th homer last week, he will look forward to challenging the young Braves to a bat off. He’s now homered in five of his past eight games.
Pitching for the Cubs will be Quintana is 2-0 with a 4.70 ERA in three home starts. The lefty is coming off a win over the Marlins in which he gave up one run over six innings. He has three quality starts out of his seven outings. The Cubs are also the 4th best pitching team in the Major with an ERA of 3.38.

Against The Spread Selection: Atlanta Braves
My reason for the pick :
This is a really tough pick as both teams are evenly matched. The Cubs have a strong record at home while the Braves has been solid on road this year. My take on this game is that it will all come down to who has a better pitcher. Both teams will have to find ways to contain the opposing team batters. My Pick for this team would have to be the Braves taking this one on the road as Teheran will continue his impressive pitching performance and Albies will remain hot.
