Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Cleveland Indians vs Detroit Tigers

The Indians will hit the road as they will face the Tigers in a 3 game series. The Indians are trying to stay on top of the AL Central and hope to secure a winning record again. For the Tigers, they currently are 3rd in the division and are dealing with several players on the DL list this season. This will be a battle between the two teams from the AL Central division.

Cleveland Indians's Latest Performance :

The Indian will now hit the road for their 8 game road trip. They have a record of 18-19 which leads the AL Central but they have the Twins right behind them. The Indians aren’t a great team on the road they are 7-10 this season. The Indians are 11th in batting with 173 runs scored this season. The teams’ bullpen must do a better job as they lost out against the Royals giving up 2 runs in the 7th innings. If they don’t start to win they might lose out the stop spot the Twins it is bound to happen based on the way they are playing.

Look for Michael Brantley to play well on the road, went 2-for-5 with two runs including a grand slam. After going 3,930 plate appearances without a grand slam in his career, he now has two of them within the span of nine games this month. With him being this hot I don’t see him slowing down anytime soon. He’s batting .327/.362/.542 with four home runs and 22 RBI over 27 games. The Tigers will have a handful of Brantley when he comes to town.

Francisco Lindor is on a tear at the moment he is currently on a 12 game hitting streak.  The 24-year-old has found his power stroke with three homers in his last four games and six in his last eight. He’s also among the league leaders with 11 doubles. He is slashing .293/362/.554 with 10 homers this season just 3 behind the league leader.

Pitching for the Indians will be Carlos Carrasco. He recorded a season-high 14 strikeouts while allowing just one free pass. The complete game was Carrasco’s second of the season, which leads all of Major League Baseball. Carrasco struck out six in a row at one point and also enjoyed a stretch where he retired 10 consecutive batters between the second and fifth innings. He has been terrific on the road this season he is 3-0 with a 2.48 ERA in four starts away from home.

Detroit Tigers's Latest Performance :

The Tigers are coming off a series loss against the Rangers in a walkout, they now have a record of 15-21, the loss against the Rangers really hurt the Tigers in the standings instead of closing the gap on the Indians they fell 2 games behind. The Tigers would still have a shot if they play well in this series. They played each other once already this year with the Indians coming up on top with a sweep they are hoping to change things around at home where they are 8-8 this season.

Pete Kozma finally earns a spot on the Tigers roster, he was able to deliver in his first major game with a solo homer as he went 2 for 3, Kozma has hit just .195/.256/.293 this season at Toledo. I expect him to fit in the team just fine as he will play well in front of his home crowd for the first time this season.

Tigers have lost their hot-hitting leadoff man and center fielder. Leon Martin was slashing .294/.355/.508 with five home runs, 15 RBI, one stolen base. he has been placed on the DL list because of a hamstring injury. Martin injury will slow down the Tigers batting immensely as he scored 23 runs through 32 games this season. Nicholas Castellanos is also out with a swollen left knee as he leads the team in RBIs at 23.

The Tigers will have to find ways to cope without their offensive firepower and try to keep a decent record until they are off the DL list.

Pitching for the Tigers will be Francisco Liriano. He yielded four hits and three runs over four innings Wednesday in a no-decision against the Rangers. He finished with four walks and three strikeouts. He has an ERA of 3.35 while striking out 29 but allowing 20 walks this season.

How Cleveland Indians & Detroit Tigers Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Tigers are 8-22 in their last 30 home games vs. a right-handed starter.

Indians are 43-14 in their last 57 vs. American League Central.

Against The Spread Selection: Cleveland Indians

My reason for the pick :

The Indians should be able to pick up the win on the road against the injury-prone Tigers. Carrasco will carry the Indians to a road victory. Carrasco will put up great numbers and shutout the Tigers batters, the Tigers will have a tough time scoring as they are still without their several key players.

Indians to win on the road over the Tigers.

Betting trends for Cleveland Indians:

  • Indians are 11-4 in their last 15 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400.

Betting trends for Detroit Tigers:

  • Tigers are 21-49 in their last 70 games vs. a right-handed starter.
