Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Oakland Athletics vs Boston Red Sox
The Red Sox will welcome back the A’s to Fenway Park for game number 2 of the 3 games series. The Red Sox are 11-4 at home while the A’s has struggled on the road with a record of 8-11.
Oakland Athletics's Latest Performance :
The A’s are 8-11 on the road this season as they get ready to travel to Fenway, after the walk-off loss to the Yankees the A’s now have a losing record which means they will laser focus when they play the Red Sox. The A’s believe that they can’t beat the Red Sox again but this time on the road. The A’s are 13th in scoring this season. The A’s are well aware that the Red Sox have made adjustments to avoid another series lost, the A’s will have to be one step ahead of the Red Sox to pick up the win on the road.
Khris Davis went 1 for 5 but was able to pick up 3 RBIs with a three-run homer. He slashing just .214/.289/.481 but he’s still one of the finest power sources in the league with 11 homers and 35 RBI. The A’s will definitely need his batting skills when on the road. His 11 homers this season have given the A’s the lead.
Jed Lowrie must have a great home for the A’s against Boston as he leads the team with 35 RBIs this season he seems to always play well against big teams and when the pressure is on. He is the A’s go-to guy when the team needs winning plays. He went 3-for-6 with a homer and two RBI against the Yankees so I am projecting a similar stat line. He is slashing .335/.392/.581 with nine homers and 35 RBI over 38 games.
Pitching for the A’s will be Daniel Mengden. He got the loss despite giving up two runs in 6 2/3 innings on Wednesday against the Astros. He was cruising until there were two outs in the seventh, but back-to-back homers by Max Stassi and Derek Fisher. That gave him his fourth loss on the season. It’s back-to-back strong starts for the right-hander, and his ERA has lowered to 4.06.
Boston Red Sox's Latest Performance :
The Red Sox can’t afford to drop any games at moment especially at home because the Yankees are right behind them and will look to grab the top spot whenever they see an opening. The Red Sox are a very solid team at home this season with a record of 11-4. Boston has one of the most versatile batters lineups in the Major this season that includes Mookie Betts, Ramirez, and Martinez. The Red Sox are very hard to beat if 2 of the 3 players are batting well.
Andrew Benintendi had himself a night, he went 3-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored. He drove in Mookie Betts twice in the ballgame, once with a ground-rule double in the first inning and again with a single in the final frame. The 23-year-old outfielder has a .255 batting average with two homers, 20 RBI and 24 runs scored in 36 games. He’s stolen six bases and has yet to be caught. He has a great opportunity to make a name for himself and become the main pieces for the Red Sox offense as the season progresses.
Hanley Ramirez went 1-for-5 with a home run and 2 RBI. It is his 6th homer of the season, he has been on a tear offensively for the Red Sox he has launched 3 homers and recorded 7 RBIs in his last four games. The A’s should pay extra attention to Ramirez when they visit Fenway Park.
Pitching for the Red Sox will be Eduardo Rodriguez. He struck out eight while allowing three hits and a walk over five scoreless innings but settled for a no-decision Thursday against the Yankees. He is 3-0 through seven starts. He was able to improve his ERA and WHIP, lowering them to 4.58 and 1.21, respectively.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
Red Sox are 9-4 in their last 13 home games vs. a team with a losing road record.
Athletics are 1-5 in their last 6 vs. a team with a winning record.
Against The Spread Selection: Boston Red Sox
My reason for the pick :
The Red Sox will be able to get their revenge on the A’s as they will take back to back games at home. In this game, the Red Sox batters would have figured out pitcher Mengden, he will give up an early lead to the Red Sox batters as the A’s won’t be able to cut into the lead and end up losing on the road.
Red Sox to win back to back at home improving their home record to 13-4 on the season.
