Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Miami Marlins vs Atlanta Braves

The Braves will face off against the Marlins again but this time in SunTrust Park the two NL East division teams will go face to face in a 3 games series. The Braves are first in the division while the Marlins are last. Last time these two teams met the Braves won the series 3-1.

Miami Marlins's Latest Performance :

The Marlins will look to bounce back after losing to the Braves earlier this week. They are coming off an impressive series victory over the Dodgers. The Marlins are still ranked last in batting despite putting up 10 runs in two games. The Marlins have scored a total of 142 runs this season. They are sitting in the last place of the NL East division with a record of 16-26. They did go on a series winning streak at one point winning 4 straight but since then they have dropped 2 series in a row. Going up against the 3rd best batting team won’t be easy for the Marlins.

JT Realmuto connected on a two-out home run in the sixth inning. He has now come up clutch for the Marlins for two straight games. He snared only one hit in five at-bats but it just happened to be the biggest hit of the game. He broke a 5-5 tie in the sixth inning with a solo shot off reliever Pedro Baez and that run gave the Marlins the victory. He has a .316/.375/.558 slash line since his return from injury to go along with six homers, 12 RBI, and 16 runs in 105 plate appearances.

Starlin Castro went 4-for-5 with an RBI and a run.  He has two homers, 19 RBI and 25 runs scored through 42 games, he is slashing .300/.331/.368. As well as these batters are playing right now the Marlins have already made it clear that they are rebuilding the team which means players will have to trade away in order for the team to have a fresh start that they need.

Pitching for the Marlins is Jose Urena. He has an ERA of 2.84 in his last four starts, yet he has yet to win a game this season. In fact, the Marlins are 0-9 in his starts. Urena will face the Braves for the second straight start. He gave up three runs in six innings on Sunday in Miami.

Atlanta Braves's Latest Performance :

The Braves will close out their 6 game homestand by facing off against the Marlins winning 7 of their last 9 games, the Braves are 9-8 when playing at home this season. The two teams met earlier this month with the Braves winning the series 3-1 in Miami. In the 4 game span, the Braves put up a total of 26 runs. The Braves are the 3rd best team when it comes to batting with 221 runs scored this season with 54 home runs. The Braves are on the verge of yet another series victory if they beat the Cubs this will make it 3 series win in a row after being swept by the Giants. The Braves are still the best team in the NL East with a record of 26-16 but they have the Phillies right behind them with 2 games behind in the win column.

Ozzie Albies went 2-for-4 and scored twice and batted a triple. He is the reason why Atlanta is playing well this season, the second year has exceeded all expectations. The 21-year-old second baseman is putting together a monster season for the Braves. He has a .283 batting average with 13 home runs, 31 RBI, 40 runs scored and six stolen bases. He is tied for the major league lead in home runs and is second in runs scored. He leads the league in the first inning runs at 14.

Ronald Acuna hit an important base hit which led to Ozzie scoring the run in the 8th inning. He finished the game 2 for 4, he is slashing .263/.341/.500 with 7 RBIs and 4 homers this season. Both Acuna and Albies are the two youngest position players currently at the Major Leauge level. The Braves have found themselves a great duo that they can build around for many years to come.

Pitching for the Braves will be Julio Teheran. He will face the Marlins lineup for the first time this season. The right-hander has posted a 1.89 ERA over his past three starts and limited opponents to two earned runs or less in six of his last eight starts.

How Miami Marlins & Atlanta Braves Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Braves are 8-1 in their last 9 vs. National League East.

Marlins are 1-4 in their last 5 road games vs. a team with a winning home record.

Against The Spread Selection: Atlanta Braves

My reason for the pick :

The Marlins still won’t be able to contain the hot batting from the Braves. Albies and Acuna will continue to impress. The Braves can’t afford to lose a game at the moment with the way the Phillies are playing. The Braves are looking forward to winning their 4th straight series.
