Game 2 of a 3-game set between the visiting Los Angeles Angels and the Toronto Blue Jays will begin on Tuesday night at 7:07 pm EST at Rodgers Centre, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.  The Angles are in 3rd place within the AL West while the Blue Jays are in 4th place within the AL East division.  This will be the 1st matchup of the year amongst these two squads, however, the Angels have won 4 of the last 7 games while winning 2 of the last 3 at Rodgers Centre.

Los Angeles Angels's Latest Performance :

The Angels come into this game losers of 4 of their last 5 games to where the O/U was 2-2-1.  Recently, the Angels tied a 4-game set against the Minnesota Twins on 5-13-2018.  They would go on to lose a 3-game home set versus the Houston Astros on 5-16-2018, with game 3 being a 2-0 shutout for the Astros.  Furthermore, the Angels would go on to lose a 4-game home set against the Tampa Bay Rays on 5-20-2018.

For the season, the Angels are averaging 4.66 runs per game (10th) with a team batting average of .249 (13th), 62 homers (4th) along with 26 stolen bases (11th).  Their pitching staff has an ERA of 3.75 (11th) with 444 strikeouts (5th) with 21 quality starts on the year (8th).

Andrelton Simmons (.329 BA on 167 AB), Mike Trout (.294 BA on 163 AB), and Albert Pujols (.247 BA on 174) have been the offensive leaders for the Angels offense this season.  Justin Upton (.250 BA on 180 AB) has also been very consistent contributor to the offense as el this season.

Toronto Blue Jays's Latest Performance :

The Blue Jays are losers of 4 of their last 5 games to where the O/U was 3-1-1.  Recently, after a 3-game home series loss to the Seattle Mariners on 5-10-2018 along with the Boston Red Sox on 5-13-2018, the Mariners followed this up with a 2-game series tie against the NY Mets on 5-16-2018.  Nonetheless, Toronto would come out flat in a 4-game home set versus the Oakland Athletics and would end up getting swept on 5-19-2018.

For the season, the Toronto Blue Jays are averaging 4.77 runs per game (6th) with a team batting average of .230 (26th), 61 homers (6th) along with 21 stolen bases (19th).  Their pitching staff has an ERA of 4.60 (24th) with 404 strikeouts (12th) along with 14 quality starts on the season (26th).

Kevin Pillar (.294 BA on 177 AB), Justin Smoak (.252 BA on 155 AB), and Yangervis Solarte (.260 BA on 177 AB) have been the offensive spearheads for the Toronto Blue Jays this season.

Pitcher JA Happ (5-3, 52 IP, 25 R, 46 H, 9 HR, 13 BB, 66 SO with an ERA of 4.15) has been the most consistent pitcher for the Blue Jay’s bullpen this year.  Aaron Sanchez (2-4, 50.1 IP, 28 R, 48 H, 5 HR, 29 BB, 40 SO with an ERA of 4.47) and Marco Estrada (2-4, 50.2 IP, 29 R, 55 H, 11 HR, 15 BB, 40 SO with an ERA of 5.15) have not been as consistent, yet, very serviceable components for the Blue Jays.

How Los Angeles Angels & Toronto Blue Jays Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

For the season, the Angels are 23-24 ATS while the O/U is 23-22-2.  On the other hand, the Blue Jays are 24-23 ATS while the O/U is 22-20-5.

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

This matchup will be a great watch in that you have two teams that are both struggled recently.  The Angels, after a hot start to the season, have dropped 5 of their last 6 contests while the Blue Jays have lost 7 of 8 games.  The Angels have dominated this series in recent matchups and would love to get a win on Wednesday in which to obtain some positive momentum going forward.  Toronto, on the other hand, has struggled all season and would love to get a win at home where they have been the strongest this year.  In all, expect both teams to be focused both at the plate and the mound to get the victory in game 2.

Against The Spread Selection: Los Angeles Angels

My reason for the pick :

Game 2 of this series will feature the slumping Angels versus a terrible Blue Jays team. I would think that if the Angels were to come out of a recent slump, it would be against a team such as the Jays that have glaring inconsistencies at the plate.  In all, I expect the Angels to obtain some much-needed momentum in this matchup as they seek to regain their offensive form in game 2.
