Kansas City Royals's Latest Performance :

Royals Shutout

The Kansas City Royals were able to put a nice stretch of games together at the beginning of last week to gain some composure moving forward but after their recent weekend struggles where they lost 8 of their last 10 games, it became apparent that this team is nowhere near rebooted. The Royals opened up their latest series against the St. Louis Cardinals on a bad note as they were roughed up in both aspects of the game as they lost 6-0. The Royals elected to start 33-year-old Ian Kennedy who has been an absolute disaster for the Royals this season and his 10th start of the season was no different. Kennedy was roughed up for 5 earned runs on 9 hits in the 5.2 innings he appeared in which has only led to a worse record as the veteran now sits at 1-5 with a 5.30 ERA. The Royals weren’t expecting the right-handed starter to be like his 2011 self where he went 21-4 but they also didn’t want the veteran to have more losses in his first few starts than his best season combined. Jason Adam may have given up 1 run in the 1.1 innings he appeared in but the rookie was able to show signs of dominance as the right-handed reliever struck out 4 guys. The Royals were not able to do very much on the offensive end of the spectrum as they were held scoreless on only 4 hits with 1 of those hits being recorded by pitcher Ian Kennedy. The Royals sluggers of Salvador Perez and Mike Moustakas were responsible for half of the team’s hits but outside of the two veterans, the Royals could not squeeze anything out.

Texas Rangers's Latest Performance :

Colon Destroyed

The Texas Rangers have been awful in 2018 and a prime example of their season has been that their best pitcher is also one of the oldest active players in the MLB in Bartolo Colon as the 44-year-old entered his recent start against the Yankees with a 2.82 ERA. Colon was set to start in his 8th start of the season against one of the best teams in the MLB in the New York Yankees and as expected the 21-season veteran was roughed up as he gave up 6 earned runs on 8 hit in only 5.1 innings of work. To put things in perspective, Colon had his worst outing of the season as he gave up 6 runs which skyrocketed his season ERA to a 3.51 but given that outing, he still has one of the best ERAs out of all 6 starters. The bullpen wasn’t much help in making sure they put a band-aid over the flooding as the combination of Matt Bush and Jesse Chavez gave up 4 earned runs in the remaining 3 innings. On offense, the Rangers were able to score 5 runs on 5 hits but given the current state of their roster due to injuries they were not able to keep pace with the high-powered Yankees offense. The Rangers were led by 5th year 2B Rougned Odor who has endured struggles through the early portion of 2018. Odor was able to connect on a ball in the bottom of the 4th inning to give him his 1 HR of the season. The Rangers have missed the production out of their young 2B as he has been a consistent 30+ HR guy the last 2 seasons and now given that the 24-year-old was able to release his stress after recording his 1st HR he may be able to play more freely now.

How Kansas City Royals & Texas Rangers Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Kansas City is 14-33, 7-15 on the road.

Texas is 18-31, 7-17 at home.

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

The probable starting pitchers for this matchup is as follows: Danny Duffy (1-6, 6.88 ERA) for the Kansas City Royals vs. TBD for the Texas Rangers.

Duffy last started on 5/19 against the Yankees where he went 4 innings giving up 5 earned runs on 7 hits in a L.

The Rangers have yet to announce a starting pitcher as they have had 7 different guys take the mound this season.

Texas and Kansas City both rank in the bottom 15 in runs scored.

Texas ranks in the bottom 10 in team ERA while Kansas City ranks dead last.

Against The Spread Selection: Texas Rangers

My reason for the pick :

Yes, it may be hard for you to back the Texas Rangers considering they have not announced a starting pitcher and for all we know it can be Martin Perez or Matt Moore who both have over 8.00 ERAs but the Royals situation isn’t much better. The Royals are starting Danny Duffy who has been awful this season as he isn’t only 1-6 but he has a 6.88 ERA as the veteran has continuously given up the long ball all season. The Rangers offense isn’t scary to most teams but they should be able to do just enough to rough up Duffy and the rough Royal bullpen. Texas wins at home.

Betting trends for Kansas City Royals:
