Seattle Mariners's Latest Performance :
The Mariners have won 3 of their last 5 games to where the O/U was 2-3. Recently, after losing a 4-game set to the Detroit Tigers on 5-13-2018, with game 1 being postponed due to weather conditions, Seattle followed this series up with a win over the Minnesota Twins by a score of 1-0 on 5-14-2018. Nonetheless, after winning game 1 of their following 2-game home set versus the Rangers on 5-15-2018, the Mariners dropped game 2 by a score of 5-1. In their following 4-game home series versus the Detroit Tigers, after losing game 1, the Mariners won the last 3 games to win the 4-game home set on 5-20-2018.

Their pitching staff has certainly been inconsistent on the year with an ERA of 4.29 (18th) with 409 strikeouts (9th) along with 19 quality starts (17th).
Dee Gordon (.304 BA on 184 AB), Jean Segura (.318 BA on 192 AB), and Mitch Haniger (.298 BA on 168 AB) have been solid at the plate for the Mariners thus far. Kyle Seager (.228 BA on 180 AB) has also been pivotal to Seattle’s success this season.
Mike Leake (4-3) has pitched 51 innings while allowing 35 runs on 62 hits, 8 homers, 16 walks, and 34 strikeouts with an ERA of 6.00 while James Paxton (3-1) has pitched 62.2 innings while allowing 23 runs on 44 hits, 7 homers, 20 walks, and 79 strikeouts with an ERA of 3.30 for the season. Oakland Athletics's Latest Performance :
The Oakland Athletics have won 4 of their last 5 games to where the O/U was 3-1-1. Recently, the A’s lost a 3-game series on the road to the Yankees on 5-13-2018; However, returned to form once again at Fenway Park as they won a 3-game set against the dangerous Boston Red Sox on 5-16-2018. Furthermore, they continued their recent stellar play with a 4-game road sweep of the slumping Toronto Blue Jays on 5-20-2018.
For the season, the Athletics are averaging 4.72 runs per game (8th) with a team batting average of .252 (12th), 61 homers (5th), along with 10 stolen bases (29th). Their pitching staff has an ERA of 4.24 (17th) with 353 strikeouts (27th) along with 19 quality starts on the season (16th).
Jed Lowrie (.320 BA on 181 AB), Stephen Piscotty (.241 BA on 141 AB), Marcus Semien (.276 BA on 203 AB), and Matt Chapman (.254 BA on 169 AB) have been the offensive leaders for the Athletics this year while Matt Olson (.238 BA on 168 AB) and Khris Davis (.235 B on 183 AB) have also been critical components to the offense for Oakland.
The 2 most impressive pitchers on Oakland’s staff is Sean Manaea (5-4, 66.1 IP, 22 R, 46 H, 8 HR, 11 BB, 51 SO, 2.71 ERA) and Daniel Mengden (4-4, 57.1 IP, 26 R, 56 H, 6 HR, 6 BB, 38 SO, 3.30 ERA) as they have proven themselves to be the most consistent of the bunch.
How Seattle Mariners & Oakland Athletics Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
For the season, the Mariners are 25-21 ATS while the O/U was 27-19. On the other hand, the Athletics are 22-25 ATS while the O/U is 24-20-3.
In-Depth Analysis of each team:
With AL West standings on the line, one can believe that the finale on Thursday between these two teams will certainly be interesting, particularly for the individuals at the mound. While the pitching starter for the A’s is to be determined, Felix Hernandez (5-3) will be taking the hill in game 3. His appearance on the mound should certainly pose a challenge to the A’s lineup that have scored over 6 runs per game in their last 4 wins. Hernandez, on the other hand, is looking for his 3rd straight win.
Totals Selection: Over
My reason for the prediction :
While Felix Hernandez has picked up some wins recently in winning 3 of his last 4 starts (with 1 no-decision), he continues to have a high ERA (5.53). In other words, Hernandez continues to give up runs this season; However, the high-powered Mariners offense has been there to bail him out in many of his 2018 starts. In fact, both teams have been on fire on offense, lately, which leads me to believe that this Over will be the play in this matchup. In all, I expect the Mariners will not only get a win the finale, but, I also expect this to be an exciting matchup with many runs being scored for both teams in what should be a back and forth type of game.
