Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Cincinnati Reds vs Colorado Rockies
The Rockies will return home hoping to extend the lead at the top of the NL West division, they will welcome the Reds to Coor Field as both teams will go head to head in a 3 game series. This will be the first meeting between the two teams this season.
Cincinnati Reds's Latest Performance :
The Reds will begin their 9 game road trip in Colorado, the Reds hasn’t been a great road team this season, they are 9-14 on the when playing on the road. It hasn’t been a good season the Reds at all this year, they are currently in the last place of the NL Central division with a record of 17-32 they have the second worst record just behind the Orioles. The troubles why the Reds aren’t winning games this season is because of their pitching they are ranked 26th in the Major with an ERA of 4.86. However, pitcher Matt Harvey came to play in his Reds home debut. He allowed 3 hits with two walks and 5 strikeouts.
Scooter Gennett struck a grand slam and had 6 RBIs, it’s his first grand slam this season after having four last season. He also had an RBI double and a sacrifice fly. He’s hit six home runs over his last 13 games after clubbing just two homers over his first 34 contests. After picking up a shoulder injury earlier this month. He is now slashing .324/.358/.528. The Reds are hoping that Gennett can replicate his batting performance when the team hits the road. My take on the Reds is it is too late for them a make a comeback into the season after a terrible start to the year, the team should be focusing on rebuilding for the future.
Pitching for the Reds will be Sal Romano. In his last start, he was hit with 5 runs in the fifth inning playing against the Cubs. He now has an ERA of 5.62 ERA and a 1.55 WHIP.
Colorado Rockies's Latest Performance :
The Rockies has finally taken over the NL West division with a one-game lead over the D-Backs as they are hoping to close things out on the road against the Dodgers before heading back home to play a 9 game homestand beginning Saturday. The homestand opens with a three-game series against the Reds. The Rockies haven’t been at their best at home this season they have a home record of 7-11. It will be a great chance for them to boost their record at home going up against a bad team like the Reds.
Trevor Story walked in the 6th inning and stole second base for the team’s 15th straight successful attempt tied for the second-longest run. He has a total of 35 RBIs that’s second-best in the National League. He also has 10 homers, which rank among the league leaders as well, and he’s hitting .240/.327/.492 in 49 games. I expect him to come through at home when playing against the Reds.
Ian Desmond went 2-for-4 with a homer and 2 RBIs. He drove in his first run on a solo shot off Brock Stewart in the second inning, and he also had an RBI single in the sixth. He now has eight homers and 23 RBI on the season in 47 games, and he is slashing .180/.233/.377 this season.
Pitching for the Rockies is Jon Gray. He lasted just 3 2/3 innings in his last start, a road loss at San Francisco. Gray falls to 4-6 with a 5.34 ERA and 1.40 WHIP after 10 starts. It will be a great opportunity for Jon to regain his confidence playing at home against the Reds.
How Cincinnati Reds & Colorado Rockies Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
Rockies are 4-1 in their last 5 when their opponent allows 2 runs or less in their previous game.
Reds are 19-44 in their last 63 vs. a team with a winning record.
Against The Spread Selection: Colorado Rockies
My reason for the pick :
The Rockies has been chasing that number 1 spot in the division for a while now it is time for the team to remain on the top and going up against the Reds will allow them to do just that as they will pick up the win at home and show that they are no fluke and they are going to be on top of the NL West division for a while. For the Reds, the road struggles continue as they are still trying to figure out what went wrong this season.
