For the season, the Nationals are averaging 4.40 runs per game (14th) with a team batting average of .239 (20th), 61 homers, (7th) along with 36 stolen bases (3rd).  Their pitching staff has an ERA of 3.43 (6th) with 479 strikeouts (3rd) along with 28 quality starts on the year (3rd).

Howie Kendrick (.303 BA on 152 AB), Trea Truner (.270 BA on 185 AB), Bryce Harper (.238 BA on 160 AB), and Michael A. Taylor (.190 BA on 163 AB) have been the offensive leaders for this Washington Nationals squad thus far.

The Marlins come into this matchup losers of 3 of their last 4 games to there the O/U was 2-3.  They recently won a 3-game set against the Los Angeles Dodgers on 5-17-2018.  They would follow this series up by dropping a 3-game road set to the Atlanta Braves on 5-20-2018.  They would tie their current series versus the Mets by picking up a 5-1 road win on 5-22-2018.

For the season, the Marlins average 3.44 runs per game (30th) with a team batting average of .229 (27th), 37 homers (30th) along with 10 stolen bases (29th).  Their pitching staff has an ERA of 5.00 (28th) with 398 strikeouts (18th) along with 14 quality starts (28th).

How Washington Nationals & Miami Marlins Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

For the season, the Nationals are 23-24 ATS while the O/U was 21-24-2.  On the other hand, the Marlins are 24-24 ATS while the O/U is 23-25.

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

The Marlins have struggled all season thus far while the Nationals, after an extended hot streak to which they won 12 of 14 games, have since lost 3 of their last 5 contests.  The pitcher for Washington is yet to be determined, however, Jose Urena (0-7) will get the start in game 1.  Despite his record, Urena has been successful against the Nationals lineup, yet, Bryce Harper (2-3), Mark Reynolds (2-8), and Michael A. Taylor (3-8) have fared well against him in the past.  With that being said, it will be interesting to see how each team executes their game plan.

Against The Spread Selection: Washington Nationals

My reason for the pick :

I will back the nationals to win game 1 on Friday.  While they have not played as well in their past few outings, the fact is that the Marlins are terrible.  In addition, they are only 10-15 at Marlins Park this year while the Nats are 14-8 (ML) on the road this year.  Expect this trend to continue as this may well be a blowout for the away team.
