Miami Marlins 's Latest Performance :

The Marlins come into this matchup losers of 3 of their last 5 games to there the O/U was 2-3.  They recently won a 3-game set against the Los Angeles Dodgers on 5-17-2018.  They would follow this series up by dropping a 3-game road set to the Atlanta Braves on 5-20-2018.  They would, however, win their next series which was a 3-game set versus the Mets by picking up a slim 2-1 road win on 5-23-2018.

For the season, the Marlins average 3.41 runs per game (30th) with a team batting average of .230 (26th), 37 homers (30th) along with 10 stolen bases (29th).  Their pitching staff has an ERA of 4.92 (27th) with 404 strikeouts (19th) along with 15 quality starts (26th).

How Washington Nationals & Miami Marlins Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

For the season, the Nationals are 23-25 ATS while the O/U was 21-25-2.  On the other hand, the Marlins are 25-24 ATS while the O/U is 23-26.

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

The Nationals are beginning to slow down after a streak of outstanding play recently while the Marlins, despite their last series win, continue to reel at this point in the season.  This matchup will be interesting in that the Nationals will bring out one of their most reliable to the mound in Tanner Roark (2-4) to be opposed by Wei Yin Chen (1-2).  The Marlins desperately need to get some wins under their belt in which to climb out of the cellar within the NL East, however, the Nationals are looking to increase their overall position within the division and getting a win against a struggling Marlins team can be the cure.

Against The Spread Selection: Washington Nationals

My reason for the pick :

I will once again back the Nationals to win game 2 on Saturday.  The Nationals will certainly benefit from this matchup in that they are beginning to struggle a bit and with the reeling Marlins coming to town, this should be a chance for them to beat up on a team to which they have had great success against in the past.  In all, I would expect the Nationals to use this matchup, and series for that matter, to get back to basics in preparation for matchups that will present themselves down the road.
