Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Atlanta Braves vs Boston Red Sox

The Braves will hit the road for a three-game interleague series against the Red Sox at Fenway Park. The Braves are first in the NL East division while the Red Sox are AL East division. This will be the first meeting between the two teams this season.

If you are a fan of batting you don’t want to miss a batting exhibition between Mookie and Ozzie.

Atlanta Braves's Latest Performance :

The Braves are coming off a series loss against the Phillies, the task won’t get any easier for the young braves as they will have to go and visit the Red Sox at Fenway. The Braves are 18-10 on the road this season with a record of 29-19 they are one game ahead of the Phillies in the NL East division. This will be the biggest challenge for the Braves yet because if they end up losing this series to the Red Sox they are likely to drop into second place. Coming into this series the Braves are 3rd best in batting with 246 runs scored this season. The young batters will be able to showcase their talent playing at Fenway Park.

Ozzie Albies will get a chance to go head to head against Mookie Betts. He is having a second season to remember he is slashing .280/.323/.575 this season with 14 homers and 34 RBIs this season. No one thought that Ozzie would develop this fast into a player that he is today. He is only in his second season and the Braves might have found their next franchise player, he is only 21.

Freddie Freeman will have to play well for the Braves on the road as he is now leading the team in RBIs at 35. He has been playing great baseball for the Braves this season, he is slashing .324/.424/.549 with nine home runs and 35 RBI over the course of 182 at-bats. This would be a great opportunity for the young Braves to mature in front of our eyes.

Pitching for the Braves will be Mike Foltynewicz has allowed two earned runs or fewer in nine of his 10 starts. The hard-throwing righty allowed just one run through six innings while recording five strikeouts against the Phillies in his most recent start.

Boston Red Sox's Latest Performance :

The Red Sox weren’t able to pull out a win against the Rays in the rubber game causing them to lose the series. The Red Sox will now return home for a 6 game homestand starting Saturday. The Red Sox are 15-7 when playing at home this season. The Red Sox now sit on top of the AL East with a record of 34-16 which is the best record in the Major right now. Next up for the Red Sox is the Braves who has continued to play well this season, they have got some young batters that can really hit the ball. The Red Sox are ranked 2nd in the Major when it comes to batting with 264 runs scored this season, the Red Sox have some really hard hitters on the team. Although their pitching hasn’t been great in their last outing after Porcello went 5-0 with a 2.14 ERA in his first seven starts, he is 1-2 with a 7.29 ERA his last four, shows you how things can turn quickly in baseball.

Mitch Moreland hit his seventh home run of the season. He’s now got seven homers and 22 RBI on the year, batting a .311/.390/.612 in 34 games. It is great to see that the Red Sox are able to generate offense from someone else, not Mookie Betts. He will continue to play well when the Braves come to visit Fenway Park.

Mookie Betts will have to show up for the Red Sox in this series against the Braves. It will be a great opportunity for him to show the young guys on the Braves that he is still one of the best batters in the Major today and no one is taking his spot anytime soon. He has been absolutely incredible at the plate this season, slashing  .362/.436/.751 with 16 homers, 35 RBI, and 12 stolen bases.

Pitching for the Red Sox will be Chris Sales. He had 9 strikeouts and allowing only 1 run in 7 2/3 innings in a win over the Rays. It will be the second time that Sales is facing off against the Braves. He was destroyed for 8 runs in 5 innings in the 1st outing on July 8, 2016.
