Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Chicago White Sox vs Detroit Tigers
The Tigers will welcome the White Sox to Comerica Park to play in the rubber game. Both teams are from the same conference as the Tigers sit in 3rd place while the White Sox are in the last place.
Chicago White Sox's Latest Performance :
The White Sox aren’t having the best season thus far they are sitting in the last place of AL Central division with a record of 15-32. When the White Sox are on the road they are 7-14 on the road this season. Coming into this series the White Sox are 28th in scoring with only 185 runs scored this season. This team is already heading into rebuilding mode and it is not even half the season yet. They might go on runs and win a few games here and there but I don’t see them making an impact at all this season after a bad start. The team will have to start to think long-term and decide in which direction they want. Lucas Giolito allowed 7 runs and 3 walks in a row the White Sox were already down 4-0 in the first inning this kind of play is unacceptable at this level.
Jose Rondon homered in a second straight game. It was one of just two White Sox hits on the day. Rondon has started back-to-back games at DH for a depleted White Sox club. He is doing all he can to help the White Sox but it will be very hard for him if the team is playing extremely bad. Rondon seems to have found himself in the White Sox rotation since being called up from the Minors. He is slashing .304/.333/.652 with 2 homers and 5 RBIs with only 9 games played.
Pitching for the White Sox will be James Shields. He has dominated his last two starts. In a combined 14 1/3 innings, Shields has given up three runs while striking out 13 and walking five. He owns a 3.27 ERA in five May starts.
Detroit Tigers's Latest Performance :
The Tigers will be playing at home against the White Sox in the rubber game, they are 12-10 when playing at home this season. The Tigers are only four games back for the second spot in the division they failed to close the gap as they were only able to win a game in the 3 game series against the Twins. Coming into this series against the White Sox the Tigers are 21st in pitching with an ERA of 4.30 and they are averaging 4.18 runs per game. If the Tigers are able to play well during this homestand they might have a chance to reach the top spot in the division that is how competitive the AL Central division is right now.
Nicholas Castellanos will have to be on his A game when playing the White Sox, he will have to be the leader in the Tigers offense as they have been struggling to score as of late putting up only 10 runs in 5 games. When he plays well the Tigers usually end up in the win column, the Tigers would not want to lose the opportunity to get a win against an easy team. Down the line they will have to face the Blue Jays and Yankees, wins will be very hard to come by when the Tigers match up with them. The Tigers must win games that they should win and can’t afford yet another skid. Nicholas is slashing .324/.372/.505 with 26 RBIs and 5 homers on the season.
Pitching for the Tigers will be Blaine Hardy. The versatile reliever will make his third start in place of injured Jordan Zimmermann, having tossed a pair of serviceable outings already. He threw five innings of two-run ball in a no-decision Monday at Minnesota, walking none and fanning four.

Against The Spread Selection: Detroit Tigers
My reason for the pick :
The Tigers should be able to pick up an easy win at home against the White Sox. The White Sox will revert back to old habits as the Tigers will look for another opportunity to close the gap on the Twins. The Tigers will have a tough homestand coming up so it is important for them to pick up winnable games against a bad team like the White Sox.
