Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Cincinnati Reds vs Colorado Rockies

The Rockies will welcome the Reds to Coor Field as both teams will face off in a 3 game series. The Rockies are first in the NL West while the Reds are last in the NL Central division. This will be the first meeting between the two teams this season.

Cincinnati Reds's Latest Performance :

The Reds are coming off an impressive series win over the Pirates at home. They will now hit the road for a 9 game road trip. The Reds aren’t really a great team this season they are 9-14 on the road this year as they will face another tough task facing off against the NL West leaders the Rockies. This season so far the Reds are only able to pick up 18 wins making them rank last in the NL Central division. One of the main struggles for the Reds this season has been their pitching they are ranked 25th in the league with a 4.82 ERA this season. Wins will be hard to come by for the Reds as this league is filled with quality batters and one bad pitch can determine the outcome of the game.

Eugenio Suarez hit a grand slam as he went 1 for 4 on the game. He continues to maintain a great RBI pace; he’s driven in 38 runs in 34 games for a team with an 18-33 record. He is doing a very good job of driving him in; he’s scored 18 runs and has 8 homers this season. He is slashing .280/.356/.568 on the season. The Reds are hoping that he can duplicate this performance when the team hits the road.

Pitching for the Reds will be Matt Harvey. He earned his first win with the Reds his last time out vs. the Pirates, turning in six innings of one-run, three-hit ball in his longest outing in a Cincinnati uniform. He has surrendered just four runs in 14 innings in his three Reds starts.

Colorado Rockies's Latest Performance :

The Rockies will begin their 9 game homestand against the Reds as they look to extend their lead on top the NL West division. The Rockies are not a really good home team this season they are only 7-11 but they will have a good chance of improving that home record since they are going up against a bad team like the Reds. The Rockies have finally done taking the top spot from the D-Backs. The next task for them is how long can stay on top of the NL division. The reason behind the Rockies success this season has been their play on the road they are 19-13 this season tied with the Red Sox with the most road win this season.

Nolan Arenado will look to bounce back at home, he currently on a hitting slump he was combined 1 for 13 in the Dodgers series. He was able to pull off a walk in the first inning but went down on strikes in each of his final three plate appearances. Playing against the Reds will give him the opportunity to regain his confidence again. He is slashing .317/.407/.539 with eight homers, 26 RBI and two stolen bases on the season.

Pitching for the Rockies will be German Marquez. He limited the Dodgers to two hits and two walks while striking out five in seven innings in his last start, at Dodger Stadium. He will now look to improve his 10.34 home ERA when playing against the Reds.

Rockies are 3-8 in their last 11 after scoring 2 runs or less in their previous game.

Reds are 20-43 in their last 63 overall.

Against The Spread Selection: Colorado Rockies

My reason for the pick :

Despite having a bad home record the Rockies will be able to win this game at home. The Rockies will be playing with confidence after they have taken the top spot of the division so they will be laser focus  to pick up the win against the Reds. Marquez will finally end his home pitching skid.
