Kansas City Royals vs Texas Rangers
The Rangers will welcome the Royals to Globe Life Park as both teams will play in their final game of the four-game series. The Royals will look to extend their winning streak as the Rangers will look to bounce back after giving up 8 runs in the series opener. The Rangers are in the last place of the AL West division while the Royals are 4th in the AL Central division.
Kansas City Royals's Latest Performance :
The Royals have now won 3 games in a row after beating out the Rangers in the series opener. The Royals have carried on the momentum from the last series when they beat out the Cards twice after losing the opener in a shutout. Although the Royals have been playing well as of late they can’t really hide the fact that they had a very bad start to the season, they are now sitting in 4th place in the AL Central division with only managed to pick up 17 wins this season. The main problem for the Royals this season has been their pitching they are last in the Major with an ERA of 5.39. The Royals showed us in the series opener that with a quality pitching they can really dominate their opponents it should be something that the coaches should focus on doing next season. Duffy allowed four hits and two walks in 7 2/3 innings in the series opener victory.
Salvador Perez went 2-for-4 with four RBI in the series opener. He came up in two big spots in the game, both times with the bases loaded. Both times he delivered, knocking in a pair of runs in both the fifth and seventh innings. He’s now got 26 RBI in 30 games, batting .254/.297/.508 with eight homers and 18 runs scored.
Whit Merrifield went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored. He tacked on a pair of insurance runs in the eighth inning with his 13th double of the year. With the two RBI and the run scored, Merrifield is now hitting .286/.358/.418 with 19 RBI and 25 runs scored. A multi-dimensional threat, he’s also got 12 steals. It won’t be easy next time around because they will be going up against Hamels who always seems to play well against the Royals.
Pitching for the Royals will be Jason Hammel will start the series finale against the Rangers. The right-hander tossed seven strong innings on Tuesday against the Cardinals, allowing nine hits and just one run in picking up his first win of the season.
Texas Rangers's Latest Performance :
After an impressive win over the Yankees, the Rangers weren’t able to win against the Royals in the series opener giving up a total of 8 runs. Baseball can be so unpredictable sometimes because one game the team is playing like they can take on anyone then the next game they end up losing to one of the worst teams in the Major. The Rangers are now in the last place in the AL West division with a record of 20-32, they have been really bad at home this season when the Rangers are playing at home they are 9-18. The Ranger couldn’t find a way past Duffy as the Rangers only managed 4 hits in 7 2/3 innings in the series opener. Duffy always seems to play well against the Rangers he’s allowed 3 runs in 30 1/3 innings.
Isiah Kiner-Falefa was the only bright spot on the Rangers side in the series opener as he went 1 for 3 for the game picking up an RBI he was also managed to get a walk but no batters from the Rangers could figure out Duffy pitching as their first run came in the 8th inning and that was a bit too late for the Rangers to make a comeback, the team is hoping that he can continue his impressive hitting streak as he has now hit in 3 games in row. He is slashing .262/.340/.392 on the season with 16 RBIs and 2 homers.
Pitching for the Rangers will be Joe Hamels. He is 2-1 with a 2.08 ERA in his last five starts after allowing only two runs against the Yankees in seven innings in his last outing. As a member of the Rangers, he made four starts against the Royals last year he always seems to play well against the Royals is 3-0 with a 0.93 ERA.
