Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

New York Mets vs Atlanta Braves

The Braves will welcome the Mets to SunTrust Park as the NL East teams will go face to face in a four-game series. The Braves are on top of the division while the Mets are in 4th place. This will be the second meeting between these two teams this season. In their last meeting the Braves shutout the Mets 2 out of 3 games.

New York Mets's Latest Performance :

The Mets will cap off their 8 game road trip as they will play the division leader Braves, the Mets are couldn’t follow up the shutout victory in the series opener but instead, they end up losing the game on a walk in extra innings. One game you have a quality pitcher in the second game you have the complete opposite this how unpredictable baseball can be and it is not a good feeling if you are on the losing team. Even though the Mets has quality pitchers the teams’ bullpen must do a better job because the Mets schedule won’t get any easier. The Mets are ranked 29th in the Major in runs per game in the month of May.

Newly acquired Jose Bautista continues to play well for the Mets as he picked up an RBI, the Mets are hoping that he can provide the offensive spark that the team is currently missing as Bautista should become one of the most pieces for the Mets as the season progresses. His line for the season is .298/.375/.673 with 6 RBIs and 2 homers this season.

Pitching on the road for the Mets will be Jacob deGrom. In his last 33 1/3 innings, deGrom has allowed one run, but the Mets are just 2-4 in those games. The Mets’ bullpen has not been kind to deGrom, who took his sixth no-decision in eight starts last time out, despite throwing seven scoreless innings.

Atlanta Braves's Latest Performance :

The Braves will be back at Suntrust Park for an 8 game homestand beginning Monday. The homestand opens with a four-game series against the Mets. The Braves are 11-9 when playing at home this season. They have a record of 29-20 placing them first in the NL East division. The Braves pitching has to improve after being exposed by the Red Sox giving up 4 homers in the series opener is unacceptable. They are ranked 8th in pitching with a 3.40 ERA. The Braves have now lost three of four, including two of three to the Phillies who sit just a half-game back in the NL East race. The Brave have only managed to score a run in just four of the first 36 innings. They will hope to bounce back when they play the Mets at home.

Nick Markakis knocked in two runs with a double. He finished 1-for-3 and also drew a walk. The veteran outfielder has hit safely in seven straight games and leads the National League with a .344 batting average. He’s also tied for seventh with 34 RBI. The Braves offense is really struggling lately so they will be hoping that he could provide an offensive spark when they play the Mets as the Braves try to hold on to the top spot of the NL East.

Pitching for the Braves will be Brandon McCarthy. He held the Phillies to one run over 5 2/3 frames Tuesday in the Braves’ 3-1 victory. He struck out five on the night, walked a couple and gave up four hits. He has a 4.67 ERA striking out 43 this season.

How New York Mets & Atlanta Braves Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Braves are 5-0 in their last 5 when their opponent allows 2 runs or less in their previous game.

Mets are 17-35 in their last 52 road games vs. a team with a winning home record.

Against The Spread Selection: Atlanta Braves

My reason for the pick :

Considering how much is on the line for the Braves, they will have to come into this game laser focus because they aren’t planning to lose the top spot to anyone soon. The Braves will have an advantage in this matchup as they are very familiar with this Mets team since they shut them out twice earlier in the season.
