Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Houston Astros vs New York Yankees

The Yankees will welcome back the Astros to Yankee Stadium for game number 2 of the 3 game series. The Yankees are the best batting team in the Major while the Astros are best pitching team in the Major.

Houston Astros's Latest Performance :

The Astros are leading the AL West division with a record of 34-20, this would be a game that you don’t want to miss because the best pitching team will be facing off against the best batting team. The Astros are coming off a tough loss against the Indians that went into extra innings, they will look to come back after that lost even stronger. Looking from their record you think that the Astros will easily win the division but think again they have the Mariners who are right behind them the Astros only have a two-game cushion. The Astros are 18-9 on the road this season.

Jose Altuve chipped in with four hits in his last outing, He singled in each of his first two at-bats before plating George Springer with an RBI double in the sixth inning. Altuve added to his haul with a big eighth inning, driving in Springer with another base hit and later scoring on an RBI single by Yuli Gurriel. He hasn’t hit for as much power this year (only three homers, but he still sports an impressive .330 batting average, which ranks fourth in the American League. Altuve plays smart baseball.

Evan Gattis stayed hot with a homer and two RBI Tuesday against the Yankees. He took left-hander CC Sabathia deep. Gattis had a .187/.260/.275 batting line three weeks ago and was in danger of seeing his playing time really cut into. However, he’s since batted .327 with six home runs and 16 RBI over his last 16 games, raising his OPS 218 points from .535 to .753. Look for him to have an impact in the rubber game.

Pitching for the Astros. He will be Dallas Keuchel is set to face the Yankees for the second time in six starts. He previously held the Bombers to three runs on six hits over seven innings, with five strikeouts and no walks, on May 2.

New York Yankees's Latest Performance :

The Yankees were able to respond after giving up 11 runs in the last game with a win in the rubber game taking the rubber game from the Angels. Their homestand will continue as they will now welcome the World Series Champ the Astros to play in a 3 game series. The Yankees are still the best batting team in the Major they have shown us this season when they really tighten up the screws they can blow out teams left and right with ease that’s how good this team is this season. The series against the Astros won’t be a walk in the park for the Yankees it will be an interesting series to see who will come up on top. The Yankees are 20-8 at home this season. Tanaka came up huge for the Yankees in the rubber game as he outpitched his fellow countrymen Ohtani, Tanaka finished the game allowing only 1 earned run and 3 hits while striking out 8 in 6 innings.

Aaron Judge will be ready for the World Series Champ this time around, he recently recorded the hardest hit ball of the 2018 season clocking 119 mph. He is having an outstanding season for the Yankees and he will have the opportunity to beat them again but this time at home. Judge is batting .290/.425/.579 with 14 home runs and 39 RBI in 49 games. He’s homered in three of his last five games to snap out of a little cold streak. The thing is with this Yankee team they have so much talent on the roster and it only takes one batter to get hot early and the game will be over in a heartbeat if you notice the Yankee bat you will see they always swing on the first pitch and good things always happen. It will be very interesting to see how they match up against the number one pitching team the Astros.

Pitching for the Yankees will be Luis Severino. He hopes to replicate his effort from May 2 at Houston, when the ace hurled the first complete game of his career, a two-hit shutout with a walk and 10 strikeouts. Over an eight-start unbeaten streak, Severino is 5-0 with a 1.87 ERA.

How Houston Astros & New York Yankees Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Yankees are 5-1 in their last 6 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600.

Astros are 14-5 in their last 19 road games.

Against The Spread Selection: New York Yankees

My reason for the pick :

The Yankees should take game two at home over the Astros, with Severino controlling the mound for the Yankees and the powerful batting from the batters it makes it hard not to go with the Yankees in this game. When the Yankees put an elite pitcher in a line up its an automatic win for them.

Betting trends for Houston Astros:

  • Astros are 5-1 in their last 6 during game 2 of a series.

Betting trends for New York Yankees:

  • Yankees are 7-2 in their last 9 during game 2 of a series.
