Game 3 of a 4-game set between the visiting Miami Marlins and the San Diego Padres will take place on Wednesday night at 10:10 pm EST at PetCo Park in San Diego, California. The Marlins are currently in last place within the NL East while the Padres occupy the last place slot in the NL West division. Miami Marlins's Latest Performance :
The Marlins come into this matchup losers of 3 of their last 5 games to there the O/U was 1-4. They recently dropped a 3-game road set to the Atlanta Braves on 5-20-2018, however, would win their next series which was a 3-game set versus the Mets by picking up a slim 2-1 road win on 5-23-2018. Unfortunately, the Marlins would go on be swept by the resurgent Washington Nationals on 5-27-2018 in a 3-game home set.
For the season, the Marlins average 3.37 runs per game (30th) with a team batting average of .229 (26th), 39 homers (30th) along with 11 stolen bases (29th). Their pitching staff has an ERA of 4.95 (29th) with 426 strikeouts (20th) along with 16 quality starts (27th).
Starlin Castro (.285 BA on 200 AB), Brian Anderson (.276 BA on 192 AB), and Justin Bour (.236 BA on 157 AB) have been the offensive superstars for the Marlins this year. Derek Dietrich (.251 BA on 179 AB) and Miguel Rojas (.258 BA on 182 AB) have also been critical components to the Miami offensive attack.
Jose Urena (0-7, 63.1 IP, 34 R, 61 H, 7 HR, 15 BB, 52 SO, 469 ERA) have pitched the most inning for the Marlins this year. Caleb Smith (3-5) has also pitched 49.1 innings while allowing 21 runs on 35 hits, 4 homers, 25 walks, and 65 strikeouts with an ERA of 3.83.
San Diego Padres's Latest Performance :
The Padres come into this matchup losers of 3 of their last 5 games to where the O/U has been 1-4. Recently, the Padres won a 4-game road set versus the Pittsburgh Pirates on 5-20-2018. The Padres, however, would come out flat in their following 3-game road series versus the Nationals and would suffer another series loss on 5-23-2018 while also dropping a 3-game home set to division foe Los Angeles Dodgers on 5-27-2018.

How Miami Marlins & San Diego Padres Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
For the season, the Marlins are 25-27 ATS while the O/U is 24-28. On the other hand, the Padres are 27-27 ATS while the O/U is 24-28-2.
In-Depth Analysis of each team:
This matchup will be interesting in that you have 2 teams that have consistently found themselves on the losing side of games. In addition, each of their offenses have struggled this year as well. In fact, in their last 3 losses, the Marlins averaged a tad over 2 runs per game while the Padres, in their last 3 losses, have averaged only 1 run per game. The pitcher for the Marlins has not been determined, however, Clayton Richard (3-6) will come to the mound for the Padres. Richard has pitched well lately, however, lost his last outing when he pitched 6 innings while allowing 4 runs on 4 hits, 3 walks, 2 homers, and 4 strikeouts in a 4-1 road loss to the Dodgers on 5-25-2018.
Totals Selection: Under
My reason for the prediction :
The Under has been the play in 4 of Richards’ last 6 starts while the under has been prevalent in 8-2 in the last 10 games combined for both teams. It is for this reason that I will back the under in the finale on Wednesday. Combine this with the fact that Richards, along with the Padres pitching staff as a whole, seldom make many damaging mistakes on the mound. With that being said, the under sounds like a rational choice in this matchup.
