Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Minnesota Twins vs Kansas City Royals
The two teams from the AL Central will face off against one another as the Royals will welcome the Twins to Kauffman Stadium to play in a 3 game series. The Royals are 4th and the Twins are 2nd in the division.
Minnesota Twins 's Latest Performance :
The Twins are only 3 games behind the Indians for the top spot in the division, they will have a chance to close that gap when go and visit the Royals in a 3 game series. The Twins are 10-13 on the road this season, the twins will have to seize the opportunity as they are going up against a rebuilding team like the Royals. Coming into this series the Twins are 20th in pitching with a 4.26 ERA this season. They have been struggling to generate runs this season the Twins are ranked 28th in batting scoring only 189 runs this season. In their last 4 games, they were only managed to score 12 runs. Playing against the Royals would allow them to regain their confidence as the Twins will have more to play for that the Royals.
Max Kepler went 2-for-3 with a home run as he was the only player that provided the spark for the Twins offense. He is slashing .256/.341/.488 with 7 homers on the year with 22 RBIs.
Eddie Rosario will need to show up for the Twins against the Royals as he is the team leading batter at .289 he leads the team in homers with 9 and has 28 RBIs on the season. The Twins will need is offensive productions in order for them to close the gap on the Indians.
Pitching for the Twins will be Lance Lynn. He turned in his finest start as a member of the Twins on Tuesday, allowing just five hits and a walk over 6 2/3 shutout innings in a victory over the Tigers. He hoping that he can duplicate his last performance on the road.
Kansas City Royals's Latest Performance :
The Royals will be returning home as they get will get ready to host a 6 game homestand. It is too late now for the Royals to recover from the bad start they had, the Royals now have a record of 17-34 that puts them in 4th place in the AL Central. The Royals don’t have a great home record either they are 7-18 at home this season. The Royals still remain last when it comes to pitching they have a whopping 5.36 ERA, they are not going to win a lot of games with an ERA that high. The Royals starting pitcher Skoglund gave up six earned runs without pitching into the sixth inning. Giving up that many earn runs in this level is unacceptable the Royals will have a long way to go if they don’t figure out their pitching woes.
Mike Moustakas finished the game 1 for 4 with 2 RBIs, he was the only bright spot on the Royals offense. The Royals have been one of the worst teams in the majors this season, but Moose has continued to produce. He’s slashing .281/.333/.513 with 11 home runs and 33 RBI over the course of 51 games played. He has been involved in rumors that the Braves might trade for him before the trade deadline, right now he is just playing well but his numbers are wasted because he is on a bad team.
Pitching for the Royals will be Jakob Junis. He will start the series opener against the Twins as the Royals return to Kansas City. He allowed two runs and five hits across five innings his last time out in a no-decision against the Cardinals.
