Minnesota Twins's Latest Performance :

The Minnesota Twins come into this game losers of 4 of their last 5 games to where the O/U was 0-5.  Recently, the Twins would lose a 3-game home set to the Milwaukee Brewers on 5-20-2018.  They did, however, returned to form in winning a 3-game home set versus the Detroit Tigers on 5-23-2018.  Furthermore, they would get swept by a hot Seattle Mariners squad in a 3-game road set on 5-27-2018.

For the season, the Twins are averaging 4.02 runs per game (24th) with a team batting average of .236 (23rd), 47 homers (26th) along with 16 stolen bases (27th).  Their pitching staff has an ERA of 4.21 (19th) with 440 strikeouts (17th) along with 19 quality starts on the year (21st).

Eduardo Escobar (.270 BA on 174 AB), Joe Mauer (.283 BA on 138 AB), Max Kepler (.254 BA on 169 AB), and Brian Dozier (.234 BA on 197 AB) have been consistent within the Twins offense this season; However, Eddie Rosario (.298 BA on 188 AB) has been instrumental in their offensive attack as well.

Pitcher Kyle Gibson (1-3, 56 IP, 26 R, 46 H, 5 HR, 27 BB, 58 SO, 4.02 ERA) and Jose Berrios (5-5, 68.2 IP, 28 R, 52 H, 9 HR, 13 BB, 67 SO, 3.67 ERA) have led the Twins pitching staff thus far.  Jake Odorizzi (3-2, 59.1 IP, 24 R, 52 H, 12 HR, 24 BB, 58 SO, 3.34 ERA) has also been solid for Minnesota this year.

Kansas City Royals's Latest Performance :

The Royals come into this matchup winners of 3 their last 5 games to where the O/U was 1-3-1.  Recently, after dropping a 3-game road set versus the New York Yankees on 5-20-2018, the Royals would go on to win a 3-game road series against the Cardinals on 5-23-2018.  Kansas City would then tie a 4-game road set versus the Texas Rangers on 5-27-2018 with a 5-3 win in game 4.

For the season, the Royals are averaging 4 runs per game (25th) with a team batting average of .254 (10th), 46 homers (28th), along with 25 stolen bases (15th).  Their pitching staff ranks at the bottom with an ERA of 5.29 (30th) with 376 strikeouts (29th) with 19 quality starts on the year (20th).

Mike Moustakas (.277 BA on 202 AB), Jorge Soler (.272 BA on 173 AB), and Whit Merrifield (.289 BA on 201 AB) have been solid thus far at the plate for Kansas City.  Jon Jay (.293 BA on 205 AB) and Lucas Duda (.256 BA on 133 AB) have also provided a small spark to the offense this season.

Jakob Junis (5-3) has been a bright spot for the Royal pitching staff this year going 61.1 innings this year while allowing 24 runs on 54 hits, 11 homers, 13 walks, and 55 strikeouts with an ERA of 3.52.  Ian Kennedy (1-5), Jason Hammel (2-5), and Danny Duffy (2-6) have combined for 180.5 innings while allowing 115 runs on 211 hits, 30 homers, 65 walks, and 147 strikeouts with a combined ERA of 5.30.

How Minnesota Twins & Kansas City Royals Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

For the season, the Twins are 28-20 ATS while the O/U is 22-25-1.  On the other hamd, the Royals are 22-31 ATS while the O/U is 20-30-3.

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

Believe it or not, the Royals, who have played dismal all season, has managed to pick up some much-needed momentum as they have won 4 of their last 6 games.  On the other hand, the Twins, who had recently been on fire, have dropped 7 of their last 10 matchups and desperately in search of a win.  The pitcher for the Royals is not yet determined, however, Fernando Romero (2-1) will get the start in the finale for the Twins on Wednesday.  This will be the right-hander’s first matchup against the Royals, however, in his last outing, he pitched 7 innings while allowing 2 runs on 7 hits, 2 walks, and 7 strikeouts in a 2-1 road loss against the Mariners on 5-25-2018.  It will be interesting to see how both he, along with the Royals lineup, respond to each other.

Totals Selection: Under

My reason for the prediction :

Four of the last 5 starts for Romero has been geared towards the under.  In fact, for both teams the under has been 12-1-1 in their last 14 games, combined.  In addition, both offenses have gone cold recently, so, I expect this game to be a low-scoring, yet, competitive matchup against two teams that certainly need to rack up some wins.  Of course, the ongoing struggles these teams have had to endure both lately as well as in the past, prevents me from picking the winner/loser; Nonetheless, the total (being the under) is certainly in play for the finale.
