Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

St. Louis Cardinals vs Milwaukee Brewers

Game 2 of a 3-game set between the visiting St. Louis Cardinals and the Milwaukee Brewers will take place at Miller Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on Monday afternoon at 7:40 pm EST.  The Cardinals are 2nd place in the NL Central while the Brewers occupy the top spot in the division.  This will be the 2nd meeting amongst these two teams this year with the Brewers taking 2 out of 3 from the Cardinals at Busch Field on 4-11-2018.

St. Louis Cardinals's Latest Performance :

The Cardinals have lost 3 of their last 5 games where the O/U was 0-4-1.  Recently, the Cards tied a 4-game set versus the San Diego Padres on 5-13-2018.  The Cardinals then went on to tie a 2-game road set against the Twins on 5-16-2018 along with a 4-game set against the Phillies on 5-20-2018.  St. Louis followed this up with a 3-game home series loss to the lowly Royals on 5-24-2018 while also losing in game 1 of a 3-game road series to the Pirates by a score of 8-1.

For the season, the Cardinals are averaging 4.29 runs per game (14th) with a team batting average of .240 (17th), 59 homers (14th), along with 24 stolen bases (17th).  Their pitching staff has an ERA of 3.46 (7th) with 413 strikeouts (23rd) and 24 quality starts on the year (8th).

Milwaukee Brewers's Latest Performance :

The Brewers have won 4 of their last 5 games to where the O/U was 1-4.  Recently, he Brewers would pick up a 3-game road series win against the hot Minnesota Twins on 5-20-2018.  They followed this series up with yet another solid performance in a 3-game home set versus the Arizona Diamondbacks to where they swept the series on 5-23-2018.  They would, however, come out flat in game 1 of a 4-game set at the Mets and would lose 5-0, yet, won game 2 by a score of 4-3 on 5-25-2018.

For the season, the Brewers are averaging 4.25 runs per game (17th) with a team batting average of .247 (15th), 65 homers (7th), and 36 stolen bases on the year (5th).  Their pitching staff has an ERA of 3.41 (5th) with 450 strikeouts (10th), along with 15 quality starts (29th).

Lorenzo Cain (.291 BA on 179 AB), Ryan Braun (.222 BA on 126 AB), Travis Shaw (.259 BA on 185 AB), and Domingo Santana (.258 BA on 155 AB) have been the most consistent offensive weapons for the Brewers this season.

Jhoulys Chacin (3-1, 57 IP, 24 R, 48 H, 5 HR, 27 BB, 42 SO, 3.32 ERA) has been a bright spot for this Brewer pitching staff this season.

How St. Louis Cardinals & Milwaukee Brewers Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

For the season, the Cardinals are 21-28 ATS while the O/U is 17-27-5.  On the other hand, the Brewers are 32-21 ATS while the O/U is 20-31-2.

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

The Brewers continue to win as they have dominated in 11 of their last 15 games.  On the other hand, the Cardinals continue to lose games as they have dropped 10 of their last 16 contests.  In addition, the Cards come into this matchup losers of 3-straight games and looking for a momentum booster in which to get them back on the winning track.  Pitchers for both squads have not been announced, however, the Brewers pitching staff has been solid in recent outings while the Cardinals staff has not allowing very many runs in their losing skid, yet, the offense has really cooled down.  It will be interesting to see how the Cardinals approach this game against a team that has really played well against them in the past.

Against The Spread Selection: Milwaukee Brewers

My reason for the pick :

The Brewers continue to pick up wins while the Cardinals are going through a serious slide that could possible bump them down to the 3rd place slot within the NL Central division (after relinquishing the top spot last week).  In all, with the Cardinals struggling, particularly, on the road (1-4 in last 4 games), I expect the Brewers to continue their winning streak at home where they have been shined all season long (15-10).
