In their following 4-game home series versus the Detroit Tigers, the Mariners won the last 3 games to win the set on 5-20-2018. They would take this momentum into their next series versus the Athletics and would pick up the 3-game series win on 5-24-2018. How Texas Rangers & Seattle Mariners Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
For the season, the Rangers are 23-30 ATS while the O/U is 27-22-4. On the other hand, the Mariners are 28-22 ATS while the O/U is 27-23.
In-Depth Analysis of each team:
The Mariners are on fire winning 7 of their last 8 games while the Rangers, after a rough start to the season, has begun to flex a bit in winning 3 of their last 4. Doug Fister (1-4) will come to the mound for game 1 for the Rangers while Marco Gonzales (4-3) will take the hill for the Mariners. Fister has been fairly dominant against the Mariners lineup, however, the Mariners big bats: Denard Span (8-22), Kyle Seager (8-22), Nelson Cruz (10-35), and Gordon Beckham (6-22), have had success against the righty in the past. On the other hand, Gonzalez has not had much experience against the Rangers, yet, Shin-Soo Choo and Robinson Chirinos are each 2-3 against the left-hander.
Against The Spread Selection: Seattle Mariners
My reason for the pick :
As stated, the Mariners are simply playing great baseball at this time of year while the Rangers, despite them picking up some wins recently, remain a very inconsistent team. It is for this reason that I expect the Mariners to come out focused in game 1 in which to set the tone of the series, altogether. In addition, I feel as though the Mariners have a certain advantage on the mound on Monday with Gonzalez getting the start. With all these combined, the Mariners will indeed get the victory to start this interesting AL West series.
