Texas Rangers's Latest Performance :

The Texas Rangers have won 3 of their last 5 games to where the O/U was 4-0-1.  Recently, the Rangers tied a 2-game road set against the Seattle Mariners on 5-16-2018 while following this up with a 4-game series loss to the Chicago White Sox on 5-20-2018.  The would also win a 3-game home set versus the New York Yankees on 5-23-2018, yet, losing game 1 of a 4-game home set to the Kansas City Royals on 5-24-2018 by a score of 8-2.  They would, however, tie the series on 5-25-2018 by beating the Royals 8-4.

For the season, the Rangers are averaging 4.26 runs per game (16th) with a team batting average of .227 (29th), 63 homers (10th) along with 27 stolen bases (13th).  Their pitching staff has an ERA of 4.81 (25th) with 410 strikeouts (24th) along with 17 quality starts on the season (25th).

Nomar Mazara (.269 BA on 201 AB) has been the offensive stars for the Rangers thus far.  On the other hand, Shin-Soo Choo (.259 BA on 201 AB) and Joey Gallo (.197 BA on 193 AB) have also been solid all-season long.

Cole Hamels (3-4) has pitched 58.2 innings this season while allowing 26 runs on 49 hits, 11 homers, 23 walks, and 64 strikeouts with an ERA of 3.38.  Bartolo Colon (2-2) has also pitched 63.1 innings while allowing 26 runs on 52 hits, 13 homers, 7 walks, and 40 strikeouts with an ERA of 3.55.

Seattle Mariners 's Latest Performance :

The Mariners have won 4 of their last 5 games to where the O/U was 0-5.  Recently, Seattle tied a 2-game home set versus the Texas Rangers on 5-16-2018.  In their following 4-game home series versus the Detroit Tigers, the Mariners won the last 3 games to win the set on 5-20-2018.  They would take this momentum into their next series versus the Athletics and would pick up the 3-game series win on 5-24-2018.  The Mariners would also get a game 1 victory over the Minnesota Twins on 5-25-2018 by a slim 2-1 score.

For the season, the Mariners are averaging 4.40 runs per game (13th) with a team batting average of .254 (11th), 55 homers (18th) along with 37 stolen bases (3rd).  Their pitching staff has certainly been inconsistent on the year with an ERA of 4.07 (15th) with 443 strikeouts (11th) along with 22 quality starts (16th).

Dee Gordon (.304 BA on 184 AB), Jean Segura (.316 BA on 209 AB), and Mitch Haniger (.291 BA on 175 AB) have been solid at the plate for the Mariners thus far.  Kyle Seager (.224 BA on 196 AB) has also been pivotal to Seattle’s success this season.

How Texas Rangers & Seattle Mariners Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

For the season, the Rangers are 23-31 ATS while the O/U is 27-23-4.  On the other hand, the Mariners are 28-22 ATS while the O/U is 27-23.

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

While the Rangers have lost 8 of their last 13 games, they are winners of 3 of their last 4 games.  On the other hand, the Mariners have won 8 of their last 11 contests.  Since both teams have played well against the other in recent matchups, I expect this to be an interesting matchup on Tuesday with both teams looking to either extend their stellar play, or, to obtain momentum in building a string of wins in which to get back into the race for the division.  The pitchers for both teams have not been determined yet.

Against The Spread Selection: Seattle Mariners

My reason for the pick :

With the Mariners playing the type of baseball they are currently playing, I would be difficult to go against them, particularly against a Texas squad that has struggled throughout the season.  For this matchup, I will back the Mariners once again as I believe they are a team, due to the Cano suspension, that certainly has something to play for.  They have exhibited this type of attitude in that they have won 8 of their last 11 since this announcement.  In all, expect the Mariners to once again come out on the winning end of game 2’s interesting matchup.
