Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Chicago White Sox vs Cleveland Indians
The Indians will welcome the White Sox to Progressive Field as the two teams from the AL Central will go face to face in a 3 game series. This will be the first meeting between the two teams this season.
Chicago White Sox's Latest Performance :
The White Sox can’t seem to get it together this season as they lose yet another series this season. The task doesn’t get much easier for the White Sox as they will have to go and visit the Indians at Progressive Field to play in a 3 game series. The White Sox haven’t been great on the road this season they are 8-18 and still remain last in the division. The reason why the White Sox have been so bad this season is because they have a 5.00 ERA which makes it hard to win at this level. The White Sox are already focusing on next season after a horrific start to the year. The thing about baseball is that one bad pitch can determine the outcome of the entire game and the problem with the White Sox is that they tend to give up runs really early which makes it hard for the batters to always try to mend the pitchers’ early woes.
Yolmer Sanchez responsible for two of the White Sox’s five hits as he went 2 for 4 with an RBI. He singled and stole a base in the first, then plated Tim Anderson with a triple in the third inning. The 25-year-old has hit a respectable .277 with two homers, four steals, 23 RBI and 18 runs scored this season.
After a 4 for 4 performance, Jose Abreu went 0 for 4 in this next game for the White Sox to win games Jose must find consistency in his batting because the White Sox are depending on his offense. He is the team leader in RBIs with 30 on the season. He is mashing to the tune of .313/.375/.549 with nine homers on the year if he doesn’t play well the White Sox usually end up losing the game.
Pitching for the White Sox will be Reynaldo Lopez. He enters this start having allowed two runs or fewer in six of his past nine starts, and one run or fewer four times. The 24-year-old righty ranks 10th in the AL in ERA (2.98) and has limited opponents to four hits or fewer in six appearances.
Cleveland Indians 's Latest Performance :
The Indians were able to split the series against the World Champ Houston Astros they were able to put up 5 runs in the 9th innings and ended the game with a walk-off, Trevor Bauer had a great game striking out a career-high 13 in 7 1/3 innings. They will cap off this 7 game homestand by facing off the White Sox in a 3 game series. The Indians are starting to pull away they now have a 4 game cushion over the Tigers in the AL Central division. Coming into this series the Indians are 20th in pitching with a 4.22 ERA and 8th best in the Major when it comes to scoring with 247 runs scored this season. Playing against the White Sox will allow them to extend the lead on top of the division since the White Sox aren’t having the best season. The Indians are 15-11 when playing at home this season.
Greg Allen delivered a walk-off home run Sunday in the Indians’ 14-inning victory over the Astros. He came up with a chance to win it in the bottom of the 14th. And that’s exactly what he did, slugging a walk-off homer off Brad Peacock as Cleveland escaped with a 10-9 victory. In addition to his walk-off, Allen also contributed a walk and an RBI double. The 25-year-old has hit .231 over 52 at-bats. He has definitely found himself a place in the Indians rotation after that hitting performance. Michael Brantley leadoff single in the 3rd inning extended his hitting streak to 16 games making it the longest streak in the Major right now. I expect these two batters to show up again for the Indians when playing against the White Sox.
Pitching for the Indians will be Corey Kluber. He settled for a no-decision Friday vs. the Astros despite throwing 6 1/3 shutout innings. The last time he faced the White Sox, Kluber gave up a run on six hits through five innings of work on Sept. 30, 2017.
How Chicago White Sox & Cleveland Indians Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
Indians are 23-10 in their last 33 during game 2 of a series.
White Sox are 16-35 in their last 51 overall.
Against The Spread Selection: Cleveland Indians
My reason for the pick :
I see no problem with the Indians dominating this game at home as they will easily beat the White Sox to end their lead on top of their division. The Indians will be able to carry over the momentum from the last victory against the Astros as that game will give the Indians the confidence that they can beat any team they play. As for the White Sox, things won’t get better for them anytime soon because the damage has already been done earlier this season.
