Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Texas Rangers vs Los Angeles Angels
The Angels will welcome the Rangers to Angel Stadium as the two teams will go head to head in a 3 game series. Both teams are from the AL West division with the Angels ranked 3rd while the Rangers are in the last place. This will be the second meeting between the two teams this season, in the last match up the Angels ended up sweeping the Rangers on the road and scoring 26 runs in 3 games.
Texas Rangers's Latest Performance :
The Rangers will be looking to steal the series from the Mariners after scoring 9 runs in their last performance, however, the Rangers aren’t doing so well in the AL West division they are currently in the last place with a record 23-34 after a bad start to the season it will be hard for them to make up some ground as the season goes on. One of the main struggles for the Rangers this season has been their pitching they are ranked 25th with a 4.77 ERA this season. Having an elite pitcher in this league is very important if a team wants to contend for a World Series, I feel like the Rangers aren’t there yet.
Rougned Odor delivered a three-run double in his last performance, he cleared the bases in the 9th inning, giving the Rangers their 12th road win of the year he is hoping he can replicate his performance when the team plays the Angels. He is 7-for-19 (.368) with three doubles, three runs scored and three RBI over his past five outings to raise his average from .177 to .214 just since May 24.
Ronald Guzman went 4-for-4 with a double, a walk and three RBI. He has emerged as one of the brightest spots lately for the Rangers. The left-handed hitting outfielder has four multi-hit games across his past eight outings to raise his average from .191 to .242 just since May 21.
Pitching for the Rangers will be Bartolo Colon. He needs one more win to tie Juan Marichal for most by a pitcher from the D.R. He is 2-0 with a 1.59 ERA in four road starts. He is 1-2 with a 4.22 ERA in his last five starts and 12-8 with a 3.62 ERA in 26 outings vs. the Angels in his career.
Los Angeles Angels's Latest Performance :
The Angels will be back at Angel Stadium for a 6 game homestand beginning Friday. The homestand opens with a three-game series against the Rangers. The Angels are not that great at home this season they are 12-17 so playing the Rangers would definitely help their home record. The Angels were able to respond to the Tigers after giving up 9 runs in the series opener they responded with 9 runs of their own in the second game. The Angels are now 3rd in the AL West division 4 games behind the World Series Champs Astros. This season the Angels have been stellar on offense and on the defense I believe that this team has enough talent to make noise as the season goes on. The Angels are ranked 7th in batting with 251 runs scored this season and the Majority of the runs are scored by Trout, in pitching the Angels are ranked 11th with an ERA of 3.71.
Ian Kinsler went 3-for-3 with a three-run homer, a double, a walk and three runs scored. He responded after snapping his 0 for 13 skid with a single going 3 for 3. He definitely felt comfortable playing in front of his old team. It was his first with multiple hits since May 10 and his first all year with three RBI or three runs scored. He trying to reclaim the leadoff spot in the Angels’ lineup and with a hitting performance like that, it will be hard for the Angels to ignore. Martin Maldonado went 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBI. It is pleasing to see that the Angels are able to generate offense off of other players and don’t have to rely on Trout every single game to get the job done.
Pitching for the Angels will be Garrett Richards. He wasn’t himself in the last start as he allowed three hits and three runs in just 2 1/3 innings against the Yankees. lasted just 70 pitches, finishing the day with five walks and three strikeouts. Richards blanked New York over his first two innings but came undone in the third, allowing a hit, three walks. He now owns an ERA of 3.67 while striking out 60 this season.
How Texas Rangers & Los Angeles Angels Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
Angels are 3-8 in their last 11 games on grass.
Rangers are 6-16 in their last 22 games vs. a starter with a WHIP less than 1.15.
Against The Spread Selection: Los Angeles Angels
My reason for the pick :
The Angels should be able to pick up an easy win over the Rangers at home. As the Angels offense will prove to be too much for the Rangers to handle. The Angels should be a team that everyone should keep an eye on because they might surprise a lot of us of what they can do when the team is clicking on all cylinders, Mike Trout should put on a good show for the fans back home as the Angels are trying to improve their record at home.
