Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Milwaukee Brewers vs Chicago White Sox

The Brewers will be looking for their 7th straight series win as they hit the road to visit the White Sox at Guaranteed Rate Field for an interleague matchup. The Brewers are first in the NL Central division while the White Sox are in the last place of the AL Central. This will be the first meeting between the two teams this season.

Milwaukee Brewers's Latest Performance :

The Brewers are coming off a series win over the Twins, they have now won 6 straight series. The Brewers went 8-2 in their 10 game homestand, they never lost back to back games in the month of May. They will now prepare themselves for an 8 game road trip starting off the road trip they will be playing the White Sox. The Brewers has been playing really well this season they are on top of the NL Central division with a 4 1/2 game lead over the 2nd place Pirates. One of the main strengths of the Brewers this season is their much-improved pitching they are 6th best in the Major with a 3.47 ERA. They also have the best bullpen in the Major this season the ability for the bullpen to close out games are the reason why the Brewers are winning games this year. Going up against the struggling White Sox would give them the opportunity to extend their lead on top of the National Leauge.

Christian Yelich notched his 7th homer of the year. He tied it up in the seventh with a striking a solo homer off left-hander Tyler Lyons. He has enjoyed a productive debut season in Milwaukee, slashing .307/.372/.492 with seven homers and six steals for the first-place Brewers. I expect him to carry over the momentum he had in the homestand with him during the 8 game road trip. He has really solidified himself as a key player in this Brewers team and things will keep getting better with the way they are playing right now. With the pitchers doing a solid job this will motivate the Brewers batter to play even better because they know that the numbers that they put up won’t be wasted.

Pitching for the Brewers will be Jhoulys Chacin. He struggled his last time out against the Mets on Sunday, allowing five earned runs on eight hits over 6 1/3 innings. The five runs allowed was the most he has given up all season and the first time he allowed more than two runs since April 30.

Chicago White Sox's Latest Performance :

The White Sox are coming off a series sweep lost against the Indians finishing their 6 game road trip 1-5, they are now set to have a brief 3 game homestand as they get ready to face the Brewers. The White Sox have the worst record in the Major they are 16-37 this season. The White Sox are now 21 games under the .500 mark. The White Sox are the worst home team in the league with a record of 8-18. Despite the bad season that the White Sox are having they must keep their head up work hard and move on to the next game. The talent is there but the team isn’t clicking this season.

Yolmer Sanchez was the only bright spot on the White Sox offense tonight as he went 1 for 4 picking up an RBI in his last performance. He has hit a respectable .277 with two homers, four steals, 23 RBI and 18 runs scored this season. It is very tough to play on a bad team when you are in the MLB because you can have a great batting night but when you look up at the score then you realize that your starting pitcher has given up early runs and the game as already been over before you could even make an impact. Since the White Sox are moving towards rebuilding the batters should focus on themselves along with the team chemistry because it will be the same group of people that you will be working with for years rebuilding a team takes time but if it is done right it will be very beneficial to the franchise and the fan base.

Pitching for the White Sox will be James Shield. He allowed five hits and three runs over seven innings Sunday in the White Sox’s loss to Detroit. He totaled four strikeouts and three walks over 97 pitches. He owns a 4.54 ERA while striking out 45 and has a 1.25 WHIP.

Against The Spread Selection: Milwaukee Brewers

My reason for the pick :

The Brewers should win this game with ease on the road the White Sox will have no answer for this Brewers team. With the way the Brewers are playing right now, I don’t see how they can lose this game against the White Sox. The Brewers are firing on all cylinders starting from the batter all the way to their bullpen. The Brewers to win this interleague matchup giving them their 7 straight series win.
