Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
NY Yankees vs Baltimore Orioles
Game 3 of a 4-game set between the New York Yankees and the Baltimore Orioles will take place at Orioles Park, Camden Yards, in Baltimore, Maryland, on Saturday afternoon at 4:05 pm EST. Both teams are within the AL East where the Yankees are currently ranked 2nd while the Orioles, who have lost 10 of 13 games, occupy the 5th place slot within the division. This will be the 2nd meeting of the year amongst these two teams as the Orioles managed to get the series win a 4-game set at Yankee Stadium earlier in the year (4-8-2018).
NY Yankees's Latest Performance :
The Yankees have won 3 of their last 5 matchups to where the O/U was 2-2-1. After a 3-game road series win versus the lowly Kansas City Royals on 5-20-2018, the Yankees would move on to lose a 3-game set to the Rangers at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas, on 5-23-2018. New York would go on to win their next two series against the AL West in the Los Angeles Angels and the Houston Astros on 5-30-2018.
For the season, the Yankees average 5.64 runs per game (1st) with a team batting average of .256 (11th), 87 home runs (1st), along with 23 stolen bases (21st). Their pitching staff has an ERA of 3.83 (12th) with 531 strikeouts (5th), along with 26 quality starts on the season (7th).
Aaron Judge (.292 BA on 195 AB), Didi Gregorius (.241 BA on 191 AB), and Brett Gardner (.256 BA on 180 AB) have been outstanding for the Yankees this year at the plate. Giancarlo Stanton (.248 BA on 202 AB) and Miguel Andujar (.290 BA on 176 AB) have also been solid at the plate thus far.
On the other hand, Luis Severino (8-1) has pitched 78 innings while allowing 20 runs on 55 hits, 4 homers, 21 walks, and 92 strikeouts with an ERA of 2.31 while Masahiro Tanaka (6-2) is also an important piece to the Yankee pitching staff as he has pitched 62.1 innings while allowing 34 runs on 51 hits, 12 homers, 17 walks, and 58 strikeouts with an ERA of 4.62.
Baltimore Orioles's Latest Performance :
The Baltimore Orioles come into this matchup having lost their last 5 games to where the O/U was 1-4. Recently, after a 4-game road series loss against the Boston Red Sox on 5-20-2018, the O’s followed this up by tying a 4-game set on the road against the White Sox on 5-24-2018. They would also go on to lose a 3-game road set against the Rays on 5-27-2018 while also getting swept in the following series in a 3-game home set versus the Washington Nationals on 5-30-2018.
For the season, the Orioles average only 3.73 runs per game (29th) with a team batting average of .231 (26th), 64 homers (14th) along with 17 stolen bases on the year (26th). Their pitching staff possesses an ERA of 4.99 (28th) with 436 strikeouts (24th) along with 25 quality starts (8th).
Manny Machado (.324 BA, 219 AB) has been the most effective offensive option for the Orioles this year. Meanwhile, Trey Mancini (.232 BA, 207 AB) and Adam Jones (.281 BA, 224 AB) have also been effective for the offensive attack.

How NY Yankees & Baltimore Orioles Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
For the season, the Yankees are 29-23 ATS while the O/U is 30-20-2. On the other hand, the Orioles are 20-36 ATS while the O/U is 25-30-1.
In-Depth Analysis of each team:
The Orioles simply cannot get it together as they have not only lost 11 of 15 games (5-straight), but, 5 of those losses have been at home. To complicate things even more for Baltimore, they will trot out Alex Cobb (1-7) to the mound in which to get the O’s back on track. Cobb has lost 4 of his last 5 matchups and has not fared very well against the Yankee lineup in the past. Tyler Austin (1-2), Brett Gardner (..269 BA on 26 AB), Didi Gregorius (.250 BA on 4 AB), Aaron Judge (.286 BA on 7 AB), Gary Sanchez (.375 BA on 8 AB), and Giancarlo Stanton (.200 BA on 5 AB) have had the most experience and success against Cobb in recent outings while Greg Bird (0-3) and Austin Romine (0-6) have not had any success against Cobb at all in their respective careers.
Against The Spread Selection: New York Yankees
My reason for the pick :
The Yankees pitching staff has been very much solid thus far, so, regardless of who pulls the start, I will expect them to totally hold it down in impressive fashion at the mound on Saturday afternoon. Despite the Orioles winning a 4-game set versus the Yankees earlier in the season, we all know that this is a different Yankee team. With that being said, yet another benefit that works in the Yanks favor is that they have much experience and success against Alex Cobb in the past. It would also be important to note that the over is 3-1 in Cobb’s last 4 starts.
