Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Philadelphia Phillies vs San Francisco Giants
Game 2 of a 3-game series versus the Philadelphia Phillies and the San Francisco Giants will take place at AT&T Park in San Francisco, California, on Saturday night at 10:05 pm EST. The Phillies currently find themselves in 3rd place within the NL East due to a recent rash of losses that unseated them from the top spot within the NL East, however, the Giants have also had to deal with a string of losses both lately and throughout the season, thus explaining their 4th place standing within the NL West division. This will be the 2nd meeting of the year amongst these two squads with the Phillies taking a 4-game sweep at home against the Giants on 5-10-2018.

Recently, they would tie a 4-game road series versus the St. Louis Cardinals on 5-20-2018, but, would end up winning the following 3-game home set versus the Atlanta Braves on 5-23-2018. The Phillies would follow up this set by losing a 3-game set versus the struggling Blue Jays on 5-25-2018 while most recently losing 2 of 3 road games against the Dodgers in a 4-game set.

San Francisco Giants's Latest Performance :
The San Francisco Giants come into this matchup losers of 3 of their last 5 games to where the O/U was 3-1-1. Recently, the Giants would come out flat in game 1 of a 2-game road set versus the Houston Astros and would suffer an 11-2 setback on their way to losing game 2 on 5-23-2018 by a score of 4-1. They would continue their road set by losing a 3-game set against the Chicago Cubs on 5-27-2018 along with a 3-game set to the Colorado Rockies on 5-30-2018.

How Philadelphia Phillies & San Francisco Giants Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
For the season, the Phillies are 27-26 ATS while the O/U is 24-25-4. On the other hand, the Giants are 31-25 ATS while the O/U is 29-24-3.
In-Depth Analysis of each team:
On one hand, the Giants have not been able to gain any traction at all as it pertains to stringing together wins to remain competitive in their division; However, the Phillies, who were playing well earlier in the season, have not been able to pick things up recently as they have lost 5 of their last 8 games. While the pitcher for the Giants have not been determined, Vince Velasquez (4-5) will take the mound for the Phillies in game 3 looking to regain his form from a few weeks ago when he won 3-straight starts. Since, Velasquez has suffered a loss and a no-decision in his last 2 outings. Brandon Crawford (1-2) and Andrew McCutchen (1-3) have both had the most experience against Velasquez in the past, however, Brandon Belt (0-2), Nick Hundley (0-3), and Pablo Sandoval (0-3) have had no success against the right-hander in their respective careers.
Against The Spread Selection: Philadelphia Phillies
My reason for the pick :
The Phillies will break out of their funk sooner or later. It is for this reason that it would be great if they were to continue to use this series against the offensively inept Giants to regain their confidence and momentum moving forward. While the pitching staff for the Phillies have not been consistent recently (allowing over 6 runs/game in last 4 losses), I expect Velasquez, who has really been solid for the Phillies this season, to neutralize the batters for the Giants while the lineup for the Phillies obtaining the hits needed in which to come out with a hard-fought victory on Saturday in game 2.
