Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Cincinnati Reds vs San Diego Padres
The finale of a 3-game set against the visiting Cincinnati Reds and the San diego Padres will take place on Sunday at PetCo Park in San Diego, California, at 6:10 pm EST. The Reds continue to be on a losing skid, despite winning their most recent outing on 5-30-2018 against the reeling Arizona Diamondbacks to salvage the 3-game set. They are currently ranked last within the NL Central division. The Padres, on the other hand, have won 3-straight yet remain in the cellar of the NL West. This will be the 1st meeting of the year amongst these two teams, however, the Padres have won 4 of the last 7 meetings while sweeping the last meeting in a 3-game set at PetCo Park on 6-12-2017.
Cincinnati Reds 's Latest Performance :
The Reds have lost 4 of their last 5 games to where the O/U was 1-4. Recently, after losing a 4-game home set to the Chicago Cubs on 5-20-2018, the Reds would win a 3-game home set versus the Pittsburgh Pirates on 5-24-2018. They would, however, follow this effort up by dropping a 3-game road set against the Colorado Rockies on 5-25-2018. Furthermore, the Reds would continue their awful play in a 3-game road set versus the struggling Arizona Diamondbacks by losing the first 2 games of the series; Nonetheless, they would pull out a 7-4 win in the finale.
For the season, the Cincinnati Reds are averaging 4.09 runs per game (25th) with a team batting average of .245 (15th), 54 home runs (24th), along with 25 stolen bases (18th). Their pitching staff has an ERA of 4.98 (27th) with 440 strikeouts (23rd), and 15 quality starts (30th).
Jesse Winker (.245 BA on 151 AB), Scooter Gennett (.343 BA on 207 AB), Tucker Barnhart (.261 BA on 161 AB), and Joey Votto (.295 BA on 200 AB) have been valuable to the offense this year. Jose Peraza (.256 BA on 219 AB) has also been a pivotal piece in the offensive puzzle for the Reds.
Homer Bailey (1-7) has pitched 62 innings for the Reds while allowing 49 runs on 81 hits, 15 homers, 24 walks, and 38 strikeouts with an ERA of 6.68 while Tyler Mahle (3-6) has pitched 58.2 innings and has allowed 32 runs on 61 hits, 13 homers, 22 walks, and 56 strikeouts along with an ERA of 4.76. San Diego Padres's Latest Performance :
The Padres come into this matchup winners of 3 of their last 5 games to where the O/U has been 3-2. Recently, the Padres would come out flat in their following 3-game road series versus the Nationals and would suffer another series loss on 5-23-2018. Furthermore, they would also drop a 3-game home set to division foe Los Angeles Dodgers on 5-27-2018. The Padres would, however, go on to win their following 4-game home set against the Marlins by picking up an 8-3 win on 5-31-2018.
For the season, San Diego averages 3.83 runs per game (27th) with a team batting average of .229 (28th), 51 homers (28th) and 35 stolen bases on the year (8th). Their pitching staff possesses an ERA of 4.20 (17th) with 502 strikeouts (8th) and 20 quality starts thus far (23rd).
Jose Pirela (.276 BA on 221 AB), Eric Hosmer (.282 BA on 206 AB), and Freddy Galvis (.233 BA on 206 AB) have been the few bright spots for this San Diego squad.

How Cincinnati Reds & San Diego Padres Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

In-Depth Analysis of each team:
A 7-4 road win versus the D’backs on 5-30-2018 broke a 3-game losing streak for the Reds. They now head to PetCo Park to battle the tough San Diego Padres, who have been very resilient lately despite their overall record. The Padres have won 4 of their last 6 games and are 4-1 in their last 5 home games and will look to continue this streak by sending Tyson Ross (4-3) to the mound to keep this Reds offense on ice. Ross will also be looking for his 3rd win in 4 starts against a Reds lineup that does not possess much experience facing him, however, Scooter Gennett is batting .364 against him in 11 at bats. Luis Castillo (4-5) will be looking for his 4th win in 6 starts while also continuing his dominance over the Padres lineup. It would be important to note that both A.J. Ellis and Corey Spangenberg are both 1-3 against Castillo in their respective careers.
Totals Selection: Over
My reason for the prediction :
The Under has not only been the play in 8 of Tyson Ross’ last 10 starts, but, Castillo has only allowed 2.2 runs per game in his last 5 starts. Since both these offenses can certainly look anemic, at times, I feel as though the under will be the play int his contest. Also, consider the fact that the under has been prevalent in 5 of the last 9 for the Padres and the play in 6 of the last 9 games for the Reds, expect this game to be no different than the norm for both teams: Competitive, yet, low-scoring finale that will be decided on the mound as well as on the defensive end of the plate.
