Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Miami Marlins vs Arizona Diamondbacks
The D-Backs will welcome the Marlins to Chase Field to play in the rubber game as the two teams will conclude a three-game series. The D-Backs are 2nd in the NL West Division while the Marlins are in the last place of the NL East division.
Miami Marlins's Latest Performance :
The Marlins have now lost 5 of their last 7 games coming into this series against the Diamondbacks. They are in the last place of the NL East division with a record of 20-36. The Marlins are 10-18 when playing on the road this year. They will face a tough matchup playing against the D-Backs at home, the D-Backs are coming off a series win over the Reds so that means the team confidence will be sky high, not the best situation for the Marlins to be in at the moment considering how bad they are playing at the moment. The Marlins have been struggling all season with putting runs on the scoreboard they are now ranked last in scoring with 192 runs scored this season.
Wei-Yin Chen was able to come up with 2 RBIs. He managed a two-run single off Jordan Lyles in the top of the second inning to tie up the game. This season the Marlins offense is nowhere to be seen as it is very hard to even compete at this level is your starting pitcher is doing all the scoring in the game. It is not a great look for the Marlins heading into the series against the D-Backs. The Marlins will need Brian Anderson to show up against the D-Backs as he is the team leader in RBIs with 24 this season. He is slashing .287/.363/.388 with 2 homers on the year. The Marlins will just have to keep their head up after ending May on a bad note as they look to start fresh in June.
Pitching for the Marlins will be Dan Straily. He had a string of five straight wins over NL West clubs come to an end at San Diego. He hadn’t lost to the division since 2016, against the Dodgers. Straily comes off throwing 108 pitches and giving up five runs, both season highs. He is 2-1 on the season with a 3.69 ERA.
Arizona Diamondbacks's Latest Performance :
The D-Backs are starting to find their groove offensively again after a series win over the Reds, the D-Backs should be able to carry over the momentum from their previous series onto the Marlin series. The D-Backs will be looking to close the gap for the top spot in the NL West. Coming into this series the D-Backs are ranked 5th in pitching with a 3.40 ERA. However, their batting must improve they are now ranked 29th when it comes to scoring with 209 runs scored this season, they look like a completely different team without Pollock in the starting lineup. I predict the D-Backs to put up numbers against the Marlins as they are starting to look like the team who won 9 straight series to start the season.
Paul Goldschmidt is starting to pick things up again after a long slump, he finally got his 7th homer of the season. He got the D’Backs on the board by blasting a two-run homer. That was his only hit but he was able to draw two walks in his latest outing. He must be glad to see May coming to an end. He had a bad month, batting just .144 with 35 strikeouts over 97 May at-bats. I predict he will start off the month of June with a bang and there is no better way to build up his confidence by playing against the Marlins. He is slashing .209/.326/.393 with 19 RBIs and 31 walks on the season. Paul is too good of a player to let a bad month effect him.
Ryan Murphy has become pleasant for the D-Back he now has 7 homers on the year and 5 of them coming in the month of May which is the club record for a catcher, I expect him to do really well in the Marlin series as the D-Backs are desperately looking for some offense.
Pitching for the D-Backs will be Matt Koch. He allowed five runs over five innings vs. the Reds in his last start but notched a win because of a D-backs offense that scored 12 runs. Koch has a 4.31 ERA but has been solid in place of Taijuan Walker, who is out for the season.

Marlins are 7-15 in their last 22 road games vs. a team with a winning home record.
Against The Spread Selection: Arizona Diamondbacks
My reason for the pick :
The D-Backs should be able to win this game at home with ease, once the D-Backs have momentum they are a very hard team to beat as I expect Goldschmidt to have a great game as he will put up big numbers to lead the D-Backs to yet another series win making it two series in a row.
