Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Los Angeles Dodgers vs Colorado Rockies

The Rockies will welcome back the Dodgers to Coors Field to play in the rubber game after the Dodgers took the series opener the Rockies will be looking to bounce back because they can’t afford to lose yet another game because the D-Backs are right behind them looking to take over.

Los Angeles Dodgers's Latest Performance :

The Dodgers were able to win the series opener against the Rockies by putting up 11 runs with 4 runs coming in the 6th inning with that win over the division leader Rockies the Dodgers improve to 27-30, the Dodgers have showed us time and time again this season that they got the talent but the only thing they lack is consistency but as great as they are they should be able to tighten up the screws and make a late push into the postseason. Coming into this series the Dodgers are 12th in scoring with 251 runs scored this season and they are 10th in pitching with a 3.65 ERA.

Yasiel Puig went 4-for-5 with a home run, two RBI and three runs scored. He smashed a two-run homer off reliever Chris Rusin in the ninth inning to end the game. He also doubled once and singled twice in the high-scoring contest. He has a .247/.311/.425 triple slash with six homers, 17 RBI and 25 runs scored in 44 games. Puig isn’t having the best season so far but games like the opener remind you what kind of player he can become when he is playing well.

Chris Taylor went 2-for-4 with a homer, two runs and four RBI in a win over the Rockies on Friday. He plated a run with a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning, then a three-run homer off the reliever Brooks Pounders in the sixth. He slumped badly for the first month and a half of the season but has turned things around of late. He is slashing .245/.328/.459 with eight home runs, 24 RBI, 39 runs and two stolen bases.

Pitching for the Dodgers will be Alex Wood. He was able to strike out seven over five innings of work, but also allowed five runs in a no-decision against the Padres on Saturday. His ERA now sits at 3.75, and he’s struck out 62 hitters in 58 1/3 innings with just 10 walks.

Colorado Rockies's Latest Performance :

The Rockies weren’t able to protect their home floor as they dropped their series opener to the Dodgers with the loss they allow the D-Backs to trail only half a game. The Rockies bullpen must do a much better job as they can’t afford to give up runs late after the starter pitcher has done a great job earlier in the game. Although the Rockies are leading the division they are still a very beatable team as the standings can change quickly in this division. Coming into this series the 17th in scoring with 243 runs scored this season. For the Rockies to maintain their top seeding in the division they will have to take it inning by inning and go pitch by pitch.

Nolan Arenado went 2-for-5 with a home run and two runs scored in Friday’s loss to the Dodgers. He hit a homer in the seventh inning against reliever Yimi Garcia. The third baseman is putting together another MVP-caliber season, slashing .321/.416/.591 with 12 home runs and 35 RBI, and LeMahieu back on the team those two would make a great one-two punch for the Rockies moving forward.

DJ Lemahieu went 4-for-5 with two runs and two RBI but his team fell to the Dodgers on Friday. He drove in Chris Iannetta with a single in the second inning, then did the same thing again in the fourth. He was playing his first game since returning from a three-week disabled list. He has a .299 batting average with five homers and 15 RBI.

Pitching for the Rockies will be Chad Bettis. He is 4-1 this season with a 3.68 ERA, but that loss came against the Dodgers. He’ll look to get back on track after letting up 10 hits Monday against the Giants. The team will need him to play well after what happened to the Rockies bullpen in the series opener.

How Los Angeles Dodgers & Colorado Rockies Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Rockies are 6-2 in their last 8 home games vs. a team with a losing record.

Dodgers are 5-0 in their last 5 road games vs. a team with a winning record.

Against The Spread Selection: Colorado Rockies

My reason for the pick :

The Rockies should be able to beat out the Dodgers at home as they will learn from their mistakes from the series opener and make adjustments. This means Bettis should have a good pitching performance as he will be able to hold his ground against the Dodgers batters in the rubber game. With this win, the Rockies will extend their lead on top of the NL West division.

Betting trends for Los Angeles Dodgers:

  • Dodgers are 4-1 in their last 5 vs. National League West.

Betting trends for Colorado Rockies:

  • Rockies are 5-2 in their last 7 after allowing 5 runs or more in their previous game.
