In-Depth Analysis of each team:
This matchup will be one of the more interesting games of the week. Both the Tigers and Red Sox have played very well recently and would like nothing better than to increase their confidence as well as possibly enhance their position even more within the division, altogether. The pitchers for both teams have not been announced, however, as an indication as to how effective Detroit’s pitching staff has been, in the Tigers last 4 wins, teams only averaged a total of 2.3 runs per game. Of course, the Red Sox pitching staff is one of the top 5 within the league, yet, even they have given up a bit more runs than usual recently (4.8 runs per game in last 4 games). It will be interesting to see how the Tigers continue to respond to their recent success along with examine how the Red Sox maintain its focus in approach such a dangerous team as Detroit is currently.
Totals Selection: Under
My reason for the prediction :
Red Sox Mookie Betts and Dustin Pedroia are both injured, which should really affect the offensive production for Boston. On the other hand, the Sox continue to possess other effective hitters within their lineup that can step in and be successful in the absence of their star(s). with the Tiger pitching staff being so dominant over the past few games, I will not go so far as to say the Tigers will walk out of Fenway victorious in game 2 on Wednesday night; However, I will say that with the pitching staff that the Red Sox possessed along with the dominant pitching for Detroit, there is bound to be only a few runs scored in this contest. Essentially, this game will come down to focus, as Boston looks to continue to fend off the Yankees in the AL East while the Tigers look to put more pressure on the Cleveland Indians in the AL Central for the top spot.
